SAAC-49 / Re: Car Show
« on: March 19, 2024, 07:49:31 AM »
As stated by Macstang check out photos from previous shows. Someone stated in a thread for SAAC 48 that there was 120+ cars registered for the popular car show. There is a good mix of old and newer models on display. You should see cars that you've only read about if you haven't attended events like this before. This will be my third SAAC event having attended 44 and 48 I had a great time. The swap meet isn't going to be Carlisle level but there are items to be had. Great bunch of people. - Kevin

It also states that "Each rolling chassis will however be issued with a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin containing a chassis number, which will assist the customer with the process of registering their vehicle at their local DMV". So no VIN number. I know that some states are better with this than others. What year would this be registered as and would it then have to comply with emissions with that state? You might also have to show where this drivetrain was purchased from. Very cool cars and I wouldn't mind having one on my garage but not for that amount of money when I spent a whole lot less for my Shelby new. - Kevin

The confirmation Hampton Inn emailed me said I have the SAAC special rate July 24th - 28th.  (Checking out the 28th).  No additional costs more than the SAAC special rate.  Call them back and double check your reservation.

Thank you for responding. They were able to fix the issue. The girl that answered stated that the same thing had happened a couple of days before. - Kevin

I booked my hotel room at the Hampton Inn for July 25 - 27th which is what our SAAC special rate is good for but that would have us checking out on the 27th. If you wanted to stay an additional night and leave Sunday morning because who would want to go to an all day car show with your luggage in the car. It is going to cost an additional $400 to stay Saturday night. This is not what happened in PA for SAAC 48. Is this a misunderstanding on the part of the hotel or mine? Thank you in advance. - Kevin

I received mine thank you. Really liked the email prior to it being sent out. "If everything is right, do nothing; get your beverage, sit back and wait for your Annual to arrive.

Looking forward to it. Somewhat close to home for me. Closer than Pittsburg. Looking at Google Maps not a lot in the area unless a local knows better. Interested in knowing what the guest hotel will be.

The car from Hawaii was at the track. It was an AC Cobra with 158K miles. This was my second appearance at a SAAC event and had a great time. The host hotel was fantastic. I really enjoyed the car collection. Never seen that many 427's in one place. Makes my car club garage look old and dingy.

I just clicked on the SAAC website and what a great improvement in all areas. Most of my time is spent on the forum. The pictures are excellent. Are these members cars? Kudos to the web designer.

I'll agree with FL SAAC on Continental Extreme Contact DW. This my tire choice for my daily driver on a Audi A4 and my Shelby GT. These are a warm weather tire only meaning with lower road temperatures traction will not be optimum. I live in CT so the car is not driven in cold weather. They do offer an all season also but I can't say if they are good. I've gotten good tread wear and traction for these tires. They warm up with normal driving without being sticky and loosing treadwear. My last set of tires were BF Goodrich that I removed early because they flat spotted and offered less traction than the Continental. - Kevin

I bought my Shelby in the spring of 2009. The car was a leftover never registered discounted almost $10K. It had 25 miles on the odometer when purchased from a dealership in Glendale, CA. I purchased it sight unseen and had it shipped back to Connecticut and have enjoyed it ever since. I've improved the cooling system, brakes, suspension and had a supercharger installed by Tasca Ford.
