With out a doubt, Phil Severance, is the Man, to take care of your tachometer needs. He just completely
went thru the tach, for my Shelby, and did a fantastic job! I couldn't be happier with his work.

Wanted to Buy / Re: 65 -66 door.

Which do you need...65 or 66?  The mount bolts are a different size, for 65 versus, a 66.

Why not remove post numbers? Does it have any real influence, on how we take care of our Cobras and Shelbys?
If I remember correctly, about 10 or 12 years ago we had the "Capt. Dave" episode, where he was flooding the
Forum with one-word posts, continuously, similar to what's going on with the Florida rudeness and it's boring. I don't
need to have any post numbers, to feel good about. Get rid of them.

PS.  I'm also one of those, who have chosen, to no longer present technical information, on this Forum, due to
the rude and nasty responses, to information presented. I'll just let them find out the hard way.

I think it is fascinating how popular retro dealer license plate frames have become. I would dearly love to find one from Richardson Ford in Albuquerque NM where 6S281 was sold new in Dec 65.

When I bought a new '67 Shelby GT350 at Richardson Ford, in Albuquerque, NM in May of 1967, they
attached a white mylar sticker, on the left side, of the trunk lid. I promptly removed it, using a hair dryer.

Replicas and Tribute / Re: Gaurdsman Blue paint code

After a lot of trial and error, painting a lot of test panels, along with help from our paint supplier, we
settled on: PPG DBC #12832 Caribbean Blue, aka Guardsman Blue. It's been on my '66 for quite sometime
   and still looks really good.

For what it's worth, I was working at LAX for TWA as an aircraft mechanic and one of my peers had a '67 GT500.
He happened to live in an apartment in Playa Del Rey and one morning, when he was emptying his trash into the
dumpster, he saw sheets of foil paper. Upon a closer look, they were sheets of the foil inserts, for a '67 GT350.
However, they had been printed crooked and were unusable. So, he took a sheet for his collection and showed it
to us. From that, it could be assumed, the producers of the '67 GT350/500 inserts, were somewhere in the local
  area, perhaps close to Lax.

I aint telling until MY cars get done!

the 5th guy did a fantastic job, (an actual Shelby/Ford Restoration guy in NY). That came under the category of, should have just paid the money and let the 5th guy do it right off the bat. For total, the same money in the end and having the car to enjoy 7 years sooner.

If the 5th guy was Brion Thompkins at Brion's Race Cars, Montgomery, NY you have a Winner!
Brion painted my Shelby, and I am really pleased. So are the others, that had Brion, paint their Shelby's

  Hello Jack,

Here's how I removed the steering wheel from my '67 GT350.

!. Protect the wood rim with cloth/rags.
  2. Get a brass drift and a mallet/heavy hammer
  3. Sit in seat, prop your knees/thighs against bottom of steering wheel.
  4. Leave retaining nut ON !!!!!
  5. Hit center of steering shaft with drift and hammer.
  6. One or two good hits and it should pop off.

  Good Luck.  Doug
