Shelby American History / Re: Shelby's Sky Terrace Motel Ads

Last time I remember seeing it was in the mid-late 80s. There has been a lot of development in the past 20 years close to the stateline some of the older places still exist further west.

Just a clip of the ad. I suspect it was placed by Shelby's managers and not himself.

Also the sign on the postcard is probably the second one. First it was just Sky Terrace, 2nd Carroll Shelby's Sky Terrace and 3rd was down at ground level - probably into a response by the city to clean up sign clutter in the view.

It was right down the street from his Ford dealership.

The dealership is now a home improvement store and I suspect the motel has been torn down as it was close to the state line and most of that has been redeveloped.

The last one is Shelby's ad in a Swedish expat paper.

Tim Foraker was the parts manager.

Timothy Foraker arranged for a meeting with Carroll Shelby, and it’s a meeting Eduardo remembers very well. “When I was shown into Carroll’s office I was taken aback by the earthiness, simplicity and the intelligence of Shelby. We became friends immediately and we had a long conversation. He was interested in knowing the way we distributed to the Ford dealers in Mexico our terms, shipping policies, the most accepted products, and even how we approached the parts managers, to convince them of the value of our products. Carroll gave me a lot advice to that end, and invited me to dinner to his house that evening” (Velazquez would later relate that they would load up the company’s VW Micro-Bus with Cobra parts, and drive all around Mexico selling to Ford Dealers directly out of the back of the bus. Ed.)

I doubt the original SEMA show that Bob Petersen put together in Jan 67 had much of a printed program. There were less than 100 vendors and only about 3,000 people attended.

McDonalds still has a 15 cent burger - it just costs $1.50.

I picked up this Scalelectrix Goodwood limited edition set at the last LASAAC show. I had Charlie Agapou and Peter Miles sign it.

This is trick - the cars follow the racing line but do switch to passing lane if close to car in front.

..... I look at it as just a big version of my slot cars from 1965.

But it doesn't sound as good as a Pittman 85 with loosely set straight cut gears. Our local slot car shop had a drag strip that ran the length of one wall. Everything in the shop ran on golf cart batteries and at the drag strip you could dial in 6V, 12V, 18V or 24V. I epoxied the windings on the armature so the 6V motor wouldn't throw them on 24V.

I think Fred's junkyard was supposed to be in Watts.
Yes but the PC Watts - South Central
El Segundo was a joke line -

With the refinery on the southside of town and the City of LA sewage treatment plant on the north there is no wonder that they have a web page for: Odor/Air Quality/Environmental Concerns
BTW houses are 1.5 to 2 million on average.

And you can do those burn outs in your own driveway

Have no fear the electric " ELEANOR   S H E L B Y GT 50% " is here !

Thanks - I'll take mine with a 470 hp Hayabusa

If a Honda fits why not a 4cyl EcoBoost?
