SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Re: Happy Birthday Chuck Cantwell!
« on: March 18, 2024, 10:44:21 AM »
Had the pleasure of meeting Chuck a few years ago at Laguna Seca during the historical races.
He signed my poster and invited me to sit down and talk. As a former Ford Field Mgr in the LA district during the 1980's, we knew poeple in common.  He was also inquisitive about the 'modern' 2006-2010 Vegas modified Shelbys.  Throuoghly enjoyed our 20 minute conversation-happy birthday to an outstanding guy.

Call Shelby Vegas.  Beleive they all started out as CA specials before Shelby mods.

I think the banner reads just 'Power?' VS HP?
The lawyers even back in the 1950's must have worded this one.

The 1988 LX Mustang was a hot seller in the LA District when I was a Field Manager.
Big issue in LA is everyone wanted an automatic LX and CAFE restricted builds.
Stop-n-go traffic took its' toll on clutches.

CA, MI, TX, NY have the highest collector car population in the US.

Agree CA is a communist state, but I'd be surprised if they stopped doing business in the state.

Having lived in Huntington Beach (1985-1988) when working for Ford Division, it is always fun to watch Adam 12 and Dragnet.
Good fun to see the 'old spots' and fast cars.  Peyton Cramer was one of my dealers and he had some nice black n white pictures in his PV showroom of the 'old days.'

Never knew! Very interesting and maybe where he made the contacts to request Chevy engines for Cobras before approaching Ford?

It is my understanding that experimental chassis 'glue' broke free (due to vibration) causing the Miles car to break apart.  Heard this years ago from a (now) deceased FOMO race photographer.

2006-up Shelby GT/GT-H / Re: Did you know ?

Very cool bit of info.
So unless the post-Hertz owner of a 2006 GT-H recalibrates the engine, it has less HP than the 07-08?

Surprised the speeder stopped?
Lake Shore Drive in Chicago has 'gangs' of motorcycles that race +100 weekly.
Cops don't even chase them anymore.

Hard to believe the 'family' picture?
It would appear there is a mom (assigned female at birth) and a dad (assigned male at birth) and a son (assigned son at birth).
However, today you can't say those kinds of things.
