Concours Talk / Re: Real original or reproduction
March 14, 2024, 11:22:46 AM
If ACSCO Products created the originals, and then continued to create the emblems for the aftermarket. Wouldn't those emblems be virtually the same? Tooling wears out over time, so there may be less crispness in the later emblems.

I am not aware if anyone other than ACSCO Products, that has made reproduction emblems. Anyone know?

Jack, at Dead Nuts On, was making the version in the OP's picture.
Since he moved to the East Coast, he lost his machinist. I gave him a lead, and that lead suggested another. Hopefully, Jack has someone soon to manufacture them.

I would imagine that they were available plain. There was a Cougar version for the 1970 Eliminator.

The Lounge / Re: Checkered Flag Henry " Hank " Williams
December 27, 2023, 01:34:54 AM
Hank was a regular at many SoCal car shows. I had the pleasure of chatting with him many times.
He was a very down to earth and approachable person. He was very generous with his time at these event. He would let kids sit inside the Cobra for pictures.
I asked him once if he got pestered to sell his car. He said constantly, even had a guy give him a blank check, once.
He said that he was never even tempted, not for any price. He said that the if he sold the Cobra, the fun would end. He enjoyed people, enjoying the car and his story.
I once told him, that he was one of the best Ambassadors for the Shelby Cobras. He looked me, and said the "Mr Shelby" also said the same thing to him. He admitted that he was a bit uncomfortable with that statement. He said that Mr Shelby would called him personally, prior to many special events. Mostly to see if he could or would attend. For out of town events, Carroll would book his lodging and send him travel expenses.
I was not aware that Hank was a WWII vet, I honestly didn't realize that he was that old. RIP friend.

I think that that is Angie Dickinson. Google "Angie Dickinson Cobra". Those pictures and more, were likely taken at Riverside.

The Lounge / Re: Really like the enthusiasm lately

Yes, it is much better without the facebook or twitter mentality posts. There should be a 'like' button, for the main rando, instead of allowing for full posts of "awesome" or "great picture".

I think they go to the fan resistor switch.

Wow, lots of content in this video. Title makes it out to be a "help me buy Shelby's". It really is not.
Features Brian Styles, Ed Meyer, and a bunch of other notable owners and enthusiasts. 1967 Engineering car, and Brian doing a brain dump with documentation.

This video may need its own thread.

Thoroughbred SAAC/MCA/Mid America etc etc...
99% original parts etc etc...

Just a fleeting glimpse of that interior shows the wrong shifter and wrong oil pressure gauge, is that 1%?
I could imagine what a chassis/drivetrain/unibody inspection could reveal.

Judges?

Maybe they meant 99% original parts....by weight?

Roger Rode is still rebuilding steering components.
He uses a FAX machine, I am not sure that he has email.

The control wand, or knobs, are different for each year. That controller should all be the same, just made a comparison.
Starting in 1970, most of the remote mirrors have a 90° controller.
