WTB - Working to finish up a 67 Shelby GT 500 and would like to use an original/NOS gas cap emblem. If you happen to have one please let me know. I know these are getting hard to find but trying to locate an original. Thanks for your help.

I just had KYClutch do three clutches and pressure plates for me. I actually visited their shop because it is not too far away. They "know" clutches and clutch components. Ask for Chris, he seems to be the "main guy" there.

Good Day Eric,
I have been in your position before - should I take a car to the convention or just attend? I have done it both ways over the years. I enjoyed the convention in a much better way when I brought my car there. I felt like a participant instead of just a spectator when I took a car.
That said, I would advise doing very good pre-planning ahead for the event. Although your distance is not too extreme, I suggest trying to arrange to trailer the car to Pittsburgh. I went to the convention there in 2018(?) I believe. Once at the Host Hotel/Motel general area there will be a need for considerable driving - you will not miss out on getting seat time during the event. My reasoning, the 67 Shelby is so iconic these days, it cannot help to draw a lot of attention. Unfortunately attention can come in a good way or bad way. You have a very beautiful car and I am sure you enjoy sharing it with other enthusiasts. However, if you had anything bad happen traveling to/from the event or while at the event I am sure it would ruin the experience and your enjoyment of the convention.
Also, the car is 56 years old now. No matter how good the condition, any kind of minor or major problem/breakdown could turn into a very bad situation for you away from your local area. Just a flat tire or battery issue may be difficult to address on the road. If you have the opportunity to travel with some other friends going to the convention from your area it would be a big plus for you. Support, backup, additional cars/friends to help if needed is priceless when traveling.
I know SAAC and all involved with the convention work hard to make sure there is security for people and cars coming to the convention BUT it is the Owner's responsibility to use good judgement.
I would love to see your car in person at the convention. I love Shelbys and specifically 67's but would advise that you use the next five months to properly prepare to attend and give yourself the best possible chance of having a great time.

Hi Rich,
I can highly recommend Jeremy Imming - Jeremy's Cars in Blue Grass, Iowa (near Davenport, Iowa) for restoration work on 67 Shelbys, either GT 350 or GT 500. He is great to work with and very knowledgeable on the finer details of 67 Shelbys. His paint work is excellent as well - not just the color but the details of primer, black out details and body color.

Wanted to Buy / WTB - 69 Shelby GT 350 Carburetor Spacer

All,
Looking for a correct, original carburetor spacer plate for a 1969 Shelby GT 350 351W 4V engine. I believe the correct spacer is dark phenolic material with a straight outlet on the back for PVC hose connection. If this is not the correct description for the correct part I would appreciate any additional details/information you can share.
This is for a mid-January built car. Thanks for your help.

Hi Bill,
In the past, Jeff Stephens has told me he does not do anything to the metal spokes or center hub part of the steering wheel. He will do some simple polishing on the spokes where they meet the wood (where the phenolic material joints the metal and wood) to improve appearance but nothing "metal working" like you describe.

A question I have is "why" do you want to do anything to that spring under the dash? What ever problem you are trying to address - there is a 90% chance that the spring IS NOT the problem. From past experience I would suggest doing some really good investigation before attacking the spring.
Most of the possible problems will require dealing with the spring but the spring is probably not the problem.

The pictures Dominic posted are very helpful. Some of my observations have been that some original 63/64 fuel logs have the attaching straps welded on (like the repo's that are available). I have not seen any fuel logs that were reported as original 67 Shelby that did not have spot welded straps.
The color of the plating is also important to notice. The original 67 fuel logs have the dichromate that seems to have more green tint. All the repo's seem to have the heavy gold tint look.
