I have my gauge cluster out for normal maintanence and noticed something very strange.

It has no light socket in the harness for the fuel gauge illumination.

I picked through the harness expecting to find a severed wire where the socket was connected but it doesn't exist.

Now splicing in one isn't a technological struggle so that isn't the point of this post.

Have any of you come across this before?  ???

I can't find this diagram on line. Is there anyone here that has it and can post it please?

Is there a retaining clip to hold the arm of the vacuum advance on the points plate?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Points wicks/felts
May 11, 2021, 09:46:53 AM
Where can I get some of the fabric felt wicks that are on the points rubbing blocks? The wick that is supposed to be under the rotor at the top of the shaft also?

I stole some off of a couple of old Accell points I had but I need to find another source of new ones?

Anyone know a part number and a source for them?

I need a  Boss 302 distributor points cam for a rebuild on my distributor. I didn't expect them to be common and thought someone here reading this might have one available?

This is the distributor points cam used with all the dual point/dual vacuum advance distributors in the 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, used in the Boss 302, 351c Boss and CJ, 428 scj, 429 cj.

You can't use the standard cam in these distributors. The points mounting plate mounts the points higher in order to clear the arm from the vacuum advance. As a result the hex cam is higher in those distributors to align with the rubbing blocks on the higher mounted points and also has that distinctive recess cut into the top for the bottom of the rotor to clear.

You can see that groove in this picture and makes these cams instantaneously identifiable.

Who has these besides Perogie? A repro is fine but I can't find the source.

Got one.

I came across this copy of a 68 Hertz window sticker for -02736.

I thought some of you would be interested in seeing it?

It's a copy of the "carbon copy" so that's why it's a little blurry.

Notice that there are no "Retali" prices listed.

It's the only Hertz copy I've every seen.

How do you do it? I lost my instructions  in the first crash?

Since the yellow cad eventually washes off of it's silver zinc cad plating, is there a way of expediting that on new yellow cad bolts? Simply. This isn't NASA.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 1967 GT500 coil mounting
January 27, 2021, 09:39:17 AM
On a 67 GT500 with no A/C or T/E, I see where the coil is mounted.

Does the coil bracket mounting use a special double ended bolt like the CJ does there or does the regular manifold mounting bolt just go through the bracket?

Also, I don't see any engine tags showing under the coil bracket? Is the tag just concealed by the bracket or is it supposed to hang down in front so that you can see and read it?

I am looking at Verns 5 zillion pictures of his current 67 GT500 offering. It has a lot of original details but I'm not seeing pics that answer these questions.

Gaines gets tired of answering these questions. I guess the tips of his fingers hurt from typing and pounding on the keys answering my questions?

Oh well? As Elvis sang in the '68 "Come Back Special"...."there must be peace in the valley someday" ? I got a white suit like that too...and yes it still fits  ::)

Wanted to Buy / 67 GT500 Intake manifold bolts
January 27, 2021, 09:35:34 AM
I'm looking for a nice set, or even individual bolts with the "5" marking on the heads, that were used on the intake manifold of the '67 GT500 C7ZX intake.

PM me if you have anything.

Also need the bell to block and transmission to bell bolts.
#73
On the above item, the bell itself seems to only be painted with Ford blue as an overspray from the engine?

On the original bells I have seen, the sheet metal cover on the bottom of the bell is not painted.

If that part was added later, shouldn't the clutch assembly have blue overspray on it originally also?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 GT500 intake bolts
January 19, 2021, 05:35:24 PM
Does the intake use bolt spacers on the two rear bolts or just shorter bolts? I can't find any pictures or references to that detail?

I do see that AMK does sell the spacers in their kit but don't know how accurate that is?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 GT500 engine id decal
January 15, 2021, 09:14:58 PM
I know that the 68 and 69 GT500's had the Ford decals on the heads, but i can't recall ever seeing a '67 with them?

Should they have one?

Anyone have his number?

He's on Long Island, NY.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 GT500 oil dipstick
January 08, 2021, 08:41:14 AM
What is the right part number for this application?

I've got a Scott Drake repop, etched with C70E-6750-A. It is being used with an original Ford Service Part tube. The part number on the Scott Drake package is C70Z-6750-A.

The engine in not in the car. It's on the engine stand being assembled. It has 6 quarts in it, and was primed for 20 minutes or so, has the filter installed, etc,  etc.

The level shown on the dipstick is something like 3 or 4 quarts OVERFILLED, above the Safe Level marking on the dipstick.

In addition, the new dipstick looks like it is way too long for this combination by about four inches?

Is there anyone here that has experience with this situation and offer some help in a solution?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / C60A-6394-D bellhouse
January 04, 2021, 07:40:06 PM
Were these things made in batches like the carbs?

I've been looking for one around my "sweet spot" of 7E31 but haven't even seen a first half of '67 dated one yet?

The '67 GT350 bells seem to have been batch cast and could have been a couple of months earlier then the build date.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 GT500 alternator belts
January 03, 2021, 05:04:14 PM
The Scott Drake line is showing repro alternator belts for this application.

It's showing a C5AE number as correct but lists a C6AE for 68 and 69 cj's, but isn't mentioning dual belts?

Do any of you know the right part numbers for this?

I wouldn't think that the od variation on these dual groove pulleys are going to matter but I want to get this right the first time.
