How do you know when you are dead?

Does everything stop or do we just continue on spirtitually?

I think we are dead. I think we are just the ghosts that haunt this place?

Rather then say, "I give up", I'd rather say I have "suspension of disbelief"? It sounds like there is something deep involved here?  ;)

I'm just going to keep haunting the streets here. Kind of like the "Headless Horseman" in Washington Irving's story. "Long flowing grey hair, turning to white. You can sometimes catch a glimpse of him tearing through the hollow at midnight under a full moon. Gee-ze. I sure wish he would put some new mufflers on that thing. I was just nodding off."

-But you're a legend in your own time
-A hero in the footlights
-Playin' tunes to fit your rhyme
-But a legends only a lonely boy
-When he goes home alone.

Ah yes. Carly's version?

I know I have that magazine.  I don't remember, did the Tunnel Port toss the rods or what?

At 7,000rpm it shouldn't have. That was a four bolt C8FE Boss 302 block, or what became a Boss block and the problem with that engine was that the power band was up over 8,000 rpm to make it pull under race conditions.

In fact I think the number was 8,200+...gaboom!

When a COLLECTIVE GROUP is having problems, struggling so to speak would require a FIX in most peoples eyes. Just because the powers to be have been doing things wrong for a very long time doesn't make it easy or right. In the beginning man tried to roll a SQUARE WHEEL and he did and thought it was good, until someone else figured out that if you chip off the edges and make it ROUND it will roll with very little effort. There is always a faster better easier way to do things, digging ones heels in and saying that's the way we do things ,makes people un happy- This is a tiny microcosm of the automotive world lets hold on to what we have and COLLECTIVLY FIX THINGS THAT APPEAR TO BE WRONG OR BROKEN! I know it takes time money effort but if we don't do it, there will not be long lines of people willing to get in the mix. Look at the people who have NOT returned to this forum after the crash, look at the conventions from the past until today we had hundreds of cars show up in the past now maybe a few dozen :'(. Cmon people all items that will help the group should be considered...

One of the possibilities here is that the "administration" just doesn't care about this. There has been absolutely no input from that end.

The black box was complained about for years and the need for a better server was known almost from the beginning. The only reason that was changed was that the old one was completely crashed and the only solution was to install a new one or just let the entire forum die.

This is just picture posting elitism if you ask me. Maybe you should be given a special badge for accomplishing that?

I just don't think this site needs to cater to the lowest common denominator.  Oh wait, that sounds elitist. I admit it, I'm an elitist because I can post pictures. Where's may badge?

So now I'm the lowest common denominator? Really? I'll remember that and that YOU said it.  ;)

Lol (yes I'm laughing at you)

The expression "lowest common denominator" is used to describe (usually in a disapproving manner) a rule, proposal, opinion, or media that is deliberately simplified so as to appeal to the largest possible number of people.

Over and out

Chris

There is some sort of presumption here that "the new way works for all". It doesn't for me. I can't post a picture here by any method.

So I'm just going to go right to the point and call "shotgun"...or BS if you prefer?  ;)

The bottom line is that the administrator needs to fix this. Considering past performance, I'm not holding my breath. Maybe in a year or two he might feel motivated? I don't know?

You are missing the point big time.

I'm not missing anything. My post was sarcasm, but many missed that.  :o

Everything is changing.  If you can't keep up with progress then you fall behind.

Chris

Really? How can you call this progress? Facts are all relative? Another alternate reality statement if you ask me.

The question is why is the administrator completely absent on this issue AGAIN?

Not only do the projections vary, but they can vary from side to side?

I think the mechanic who installed them just used a rubber mallet and knocked the adapter on with one shot, then put on the tips.

Using a tape measure would have been above his pay grade?  ;)

Presuming that you already own a fastback that is usable, it's gonna' cost you around 50 to build one of these things and sort it out.

I think that IF the one for 70 is ready to roll, that's a fair price.

Building it yourself and taking a year or more off to build the thing is about right. How much is a year's worth of pay, salary and time worth to you? Will you be sure that you got everything right?

I definitely prefer the old way.  I can not figure out how to post a picture and am envious of those that can.  Also, these super huge pictures are very inconvenient.  I can never see the complete car/image, I have to scroll and only see a part of the car at any given time.
Quote from: KR Convertible on June 05, 2018, 01:16:45 PM
The old way was a little simpler, at least for small thumbnails you had to click on to enlarge.  I definitely like the larger images, except when they are too big (over 1000 width) and you have to scroll.  I'm not sure what caused the dreaded black box on the old forum, but I will suffer with the new way over that!

I am hoping it will return to the previous way of posting a pic.....

I know exactly how everybody feels. I prefer the Old Shelby's to the new ones. I just don't like they way the new ones look or sound or handle. Sure its new and improved but I like the old way they sound/handle.

While we're at it do you think we can go back to the flip phone and get rid of all the touch face glass thingies? Man I love the old flips. It use to make me feel like I was asking Scotty to beam me up... those were the days.

Life is so darn tough nowadays.   ;)

I'm still using a flip phone. And, NO, you can't have mine. Ha, ha!

Steve

No one is stopping you from using your flip phones. No one is stopping you from flipping your hair up out of your face. You still do have hair to flip right?  :o

Whitewalls. That's the ticket. Whitewalls.

I dont think its as hard as people are making it. You upload a picture to the forum and reference it in your thread

Weather the issue with the pictures is real or perceived, it remains an issue that makes this site less appealing and less interesting.

Agreed

OK, they knocked-out the opening for the air conditioning hoses.

Yes. That is what the opening for the hoses routing to the condenser looks like on the air conditioned cars.

The Marvin car was in the Greenwich, CT, area originally. He lived there.

At that point in time he was a very in demand actor and the nature of the business meant that he wasn't home much vs. being on location shooting movies.

Let's face it. That kind of lifestyle contributes heavily to the lack of longevity in marriages. What chance does a car have?

As I recall, it didn't have much mileage on the odometer when he gave it away? Something like 8,000 miles or so and there were some comments after the fact that it was a mess and a completely ignored item just left on it's own in the driveway.

Greenwich is a funny place. It's full of lots of little neighborhoods with little bungalow houses in little private neighborhoods that you would never suspect were there. Sure there are 20 acre "estates" too, but that's not necessarily where these celebrities lived?

I don't think Lee was ever interviewed about the Shelby but the type of guy he was, that's probably just as well.

Ask him about having to sing and dance in his latest film is ok if you worked as a journalist with the "right" publication but asking about his car  is "poking" into their private lives.

I tend to think that his on screen persona was not a role that he had work at to get into? It pretty much was him. I'm not sure if he would just deck you with a quick left hook or exercise his second amendment rights. It probably depends on if there were cameras and witnesses around?  In any case, caution should have prevailed.  ;)

If you happened to be driving by and saw this scruffy, grumpy looking guy in his slippers and pj's, walking around in the driveway, grumbling about where they threw the morning newspaper this morning, best to ignore that and keep driving by? DON'T stop and ask for an autograph.  ;D

I think it was Carter Gette that said Marvin and Buster Crab were his customers?  In fact he may be the source of that info, that they are original owners, now that I think of it? I do remember Carter saying Crab would bring his car in for service regularly, whatever that means.
