Charles Turner and I ran a short run of accurate repros about 2 years ago. We sold all of them here on the forum...we're looking into another run.

Wanted to Buy / WTB: 1965 HIPO front coil springs

Looking for a nice set of original HIPO/GT (Special Handling Package) front coil springs. These should be roughly .60 in diameter and be uncut. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone out there know the max width for 15" Avon CR6ZZ tires you can put under a 1965 GT350 with the standard wheel openings (no flares) avoiding interference for normal street driving? Better yet - if you have a pic of a car with such could you show it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wanted to Buy / Lightly used goodyear blue dot
June 24, 2019, 09:54:37 AM
Looking for a lightly used blue dot to mount as my spare tire to sit on package tray. Anything lightly used/older is fine as long as it's not cracked/dry rotted/damaged.

So I'm in Virginia - actually in Gainesville, but never seen the car around. Having read this thread pertaining to potential lack of a title I have to say in recent years any cars without clear titles are getting harder and harder to legitimize in various states. I recently bought a car and one number was transposed on the seller's state title. I had to fight and argue that the car had all of it's serial numbers as well as a clear out-of-state title (albeit with one transposed number). In the end I had to go back to the originating state and ask them to correct and re-title BEFORE Virginia would even look at it. Even after all of that I had to file a special motion to have the car inspected by state law enforcement for "Fraud". It all was okay and worked out once they inspected the car up close, but I have to tell ya - any old raced cars missing a hint of a serial number or a non-clear title face less and less each day getting the car cleared by to normal titled/registration standards. Those days of resurrecting cars from the ground like happened alot in the 80's are gone.

I'm in for a write up...I have a car with a story - Found behind a house in Texas, personal restoration within the community of support, just won a class award at Amelia for a "triple crown" win in concours class. Now the son of the 50+ year old dealership that sold the car has provided a photo showing it on the lot in 1965. Might make a good read!

Haven't seen a convention registration link yet, but hoping to see one soon. I guess this is where I put a shameless plug for our service at motosho.com. We host all of the MCA and FCA national/regional events along with many other concours and open track events. The only product that handles registration, amenities and entrant scoring in an automated, web and mobile friendly platform. Registration for events can be setup and opened in minutes if you have all of your basic details in order. I've reached out to several of the staff at SAAC saying we would support SAAC-44 and get things rolling for them immediately, but never got a response.

Am I the only guy still waiting to receive mine? Seems like it's taking an awful long time to show up...

All,

Last weekend I had the pleasure of showing 5S262 at the Amelia Island Concours and ultimately placed as a class winner. While the show was on my bucket list to attend I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd be there as an entrant let alone get an award. I have to say I owe a lot of it to many of you fine folks schooling me on the details of the car(s) over the years. Any way while I was there I had a young guy come up to me and say he really enjoyed reading the placard in front of the car and couldn't help but notice I mentioned the car was sold in 1965 from Gene Hamon Ford. He went on to say that he knew Tomy Hamon personally and would it be okay to photograph and then send Tomy a pic. I said "absolutely" and he went on his way. Now three days later I get home with the car and I notice a FB message from Tomy on my phone. Congratulating me on the award and how he'd like to some day see it in person. As a passing comment I wrote back "yeah I looked for along time for photos and even a dealership license frame for the restored car, but could never come up with anything." He replied, "I vaguely remembered it and of course, the Freddie Van Buren R model that we had - let me look through the boxes I have left from back in the day in the basement and I'll see what comes up". The next day I headed to work and when I walked out 8 hours later to head home I saw a message from Tomy again expressing this: "We had just built the new dealership building back in 1965 so dad had some photos taken of it and I came across this one to my surprise - look at what's sitting in the front row (5S262) and in the show room (COBRA)!" Such a cool connection and a pic that had been elusive for years...just thought I'd share...and now to find which COBRA that was!

Again - humbled to be asked to show the car - let alone a class win. Was a great weekend!
