I'd like to hear expert opinions about the antenna in these photos.  Specifically the antenna that i've labeled as "maybe original".    The other antenna in the photos i recently bought from ebay vendor that routinely sells inoperative (but nice) version of the original.   Also i'd like to hear opinions re: the coax cable.   Thanks

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Fill this hole?
August 21, 2021, 09:05:09 AM
Am i correct that this hole in the upper trunk rail area should not be here.   Just want to confirm before body guy fills it.

Owned car since '79 and i didn't put it there.  Can't imagine why anyone would.

Thanks

Does this appear to be correct for 69/70 ?  Thanks.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / VIN Tag on Cowl
May 05, 2021, 01:31:08 PM
Car is headed to media blaster and I'd like to hear thoughts/comments from experts about removing the VIN tag from cowl.

And are there particular rivets that are used to reattach the VIN ?  This is a 70 model so the VIN tag so I'm not sure if that meant a specific rivet was used during the re-VIN process.

The fellow doing metal work says he commonly removes/replaces VIN tag.  He specializes in 65-70 mustangs and has worked on a number Boss 429/302 and Shelbys in the past.   He's advising it's a non-issue to remove VIN tag for safe keeping while car is being blasted/primed/painted.   I trust him...but want to verify.

If this is standard practice,  I'll remove tag myself before delivering car.

Thanks

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / 1970 GT500 carb date
October 21, 2020, 10:21:56 AM
For the 1970 Gt500 automatics cars:   During the 69-to-70 conversion,  was the existing "born-with" carb modified...or rather was a replacement carb swapped out in place of the original carb ?

My understanding is the distributor was a swap-out scenario, but I can't seem to specifics on how the carb mod was executed (i.e. carb swap vs. carb mod).

Knowing this would help me determine appropriate date code for my 02/28/69 built 70 GT500 auto.   Trying to determine whether to be in the ballpark of a 91_ date versus 97_ date.

Thanks

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Door pull cups
November 23, 2019, 06:59:45 PM
What are opinions of repop door pull cups vs original ?  Both mine are busted at the typical weak spot. Wonder if repops might be equal or better than original (durability wise).  If not I'll chase down some originals.   >edit> I now understand the difference length between 69 and 70 pull cups.

I'm soon sending door panels to Gene Painter and want to send a good set of pulls.  So looking for advice.

Thanks

Anyone have tips/method/suggestion for way to remove rear fastback glass without damaging the rubber window seal?   If possible, id like to save/reuse the original rubber seal.

Looking at it,  wondering if better to pull glass out of seal (somehow) or perhaps possible to pull glass and seal together.

Thanks

Any recommendations for place/person that restores 69/70 auto shifter handle?

Wondering if the 69/70's 500s typically had N or non-N carrier

Also curious about typical date codes. Mine currently has 8D24 dated, non-N nodular carrier in car built Feb 69.  Seems a bit early for car's build date (10 months ?).

Back in the early '80's used to swap in/out various 3rd members in the car   Wondering if I might have lost track of the original over the years.  Hoping I had the correct one the car as I was selling off all my extra parts 30 years ago.

Is the PCV configuration same on 69 and 70 GT500 automatic cars ?  Checking to see if anything pcv-related was changed during the re-VIN.

Thanks as always.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / R Servo for C6
June 12, 2018, 12:15:23 PM
Would an R servo with engineering number of C80P-7D027 be incorrect for a Mustang by virtue of the "P" in the number?

My understanding is P indicates Fairlane.

Or have there been C8OP servo covers found on original C6 from 69-70 gt500?
