Wanted to Buy / 1968 GT500KR Flywheel. 428CJ.
October 26, 2020, 10:00:09 PM
Still looking.
I did purchase an NOS flywheel.  Upon receiving the flywheel, I noticed that every pressure plate mounting bolt hole/thread had a "plugged" hole and these broke into the section where the pressure plate bolts fasten.
I've discussed this with my engine builder and he is telling me to locate another flywheel. He is concerned about using it

I'll really prefer using the cast iron design.
Does anyone have a used proper stamped part number design that I can get resurfaced and install a new ring gear?
Any leads appreciated..
Thank you

Wanted to Buy / Ford Toploader, Shifter Plate Screw
October 26, 2020, 07:54:06 PM
Searching for the Factory Phillips head screw used to mount the shifter interface plate to the transmission tail shaft.
Apparently this was a factory goof.. the screw was snapped off and it had been like that since day one is my guess..  This screw is a "self tapping design"
If someone has an extra, please PM me.
Thank you

Very good information..and I have the same concerns about balance.
My motor is being balanced at the very good engine shop.. and I will be calling him today to discuss the options.  The guy doing the work is an old school guy that I trust.
He did the work on my 289 hipo years ago.
As always, excellent information and support at this forum.
Thank you.

428CJ standard flywheel.
I just heard from my engine shop that the flywheel stress crack is not cleaning up in a resurface.
My flywheel only had the engineering number and hardness dimple.
I would a unit with similar markings.
Anyone have a source for a flywheel that will resurface within specs and be safe?
Thank you

Seeking advice on what to use to plug the thermactor tube holes in a  428CJ head.
I know that  Ford offered a part number for that application.. when removing the smog setup.
FORD CYLINDER HEAD PLUG C6AZ-6052-A
Has anyone used them?
Comments or suggestions to use these or something else?
I'd like to have these plugs run down to the exhaust port surface and provide a direct exhaust exit with limited chamber turbulence.
Thanks
Fran
