Port Jervis NY early 1980's show?

Yup, Port Jervis for sure.  I was there and I'm sure martyjac was too.

Stunning color combo.  Not many of that color out there.

Put the car in reverse and repeat to check the passenger side.

I don't understand how this will check for a bad mount on the passenger side.  The engine only rotates in one direction regardless of whether the transmission is in forward, neutral, or reverse.  Am I missing something?

I don't even know how to find a competent body shop in SE PA.

Bogturtle52,

I also live in SE PA.  Specifically in Limerick.  Contact me and maybe I can network you in with the folks around here who are competent and honest.

I did pick up the digital version of Bob Mannel's book "Mustang & Ford Small Block V8, 1962-1969".  Looks like a good resource, especially since I am trying to rebuild my original engine for 6S817.  It won't be concours correct but I want it to be somewhat close without spending ridiculous amounts of money.  At this point I have all the really hard to get parts.

Dan,

Thanks for the response.  I'm pretty sure that the more square style bracket is earlier than the other.  I figure that my car might have been built somewhere around the change over date.  We'll have to get a few more folks chiming in in order to get a read between the two styles.

I have a couple of questions regarding Hi-Po Autolite 4100 carburetors.

1. Other than the dashpot, what is the difference between the manual transmission version of this carburetor (C6ZF-C) and the automatic version (C6ZF-F)?  Is there a difference in calibration?  I know the secondary boosters are the same (stamped BA) but are the primary boosters (stamped M or MA) different?

2. The attached picture shows two styles of Autolite 4100 manual choke brackets.  The question is which one would be correct for an early February build Hertz car (shipped 2/10/1966)?

Thanks for any help provided.

Going Thing,

Thanks for posting.  I currently have the dash out of my '67 so I just may do this job this weekend.

Thanks, my wife calls them the mistresses. :)

Ha!!! That's what my wife calls the cars, too!

+1 and other less complimentary terms.  I believe she even use the word sledgehammer in a sentence once.

6S817 is an original black and gold car.  Same color as it is today.

Awesome!  I know how you feel.

My Shelby is the right color for me. I would never repaint it that ugly lime gold as long as I own it. It is an original color offered. Acapulco blue with white stripes with a stunning paint job. I have no use for trailer queens or hard nose purist.  I find them boring.

That is exactly what I did!!! Some colors!!! Now that same car is red!

I'm with you guys.  My car was Slime as well although when I first brought it home (1977) it was either a very, very dark metallic purple or a metallic black.  It also has ridiculous custom paint on the hood scoop (white with little squiggly things in the paint) and translucent teardrops on the side scoops and the back of the spoiler.  And to cap things off, '70 Torino snake decals on the front fenders.  First thing I did was to get out a rattle can of flat black primer and cover that mess up.  I drove it that way for about two or three years.  I swear I would have painted it the original color if it had been anything other than Slime.  Photo is circa winter 1979.
