1965 GT350/R-Model / Brake drums
« on: June 30, 2023, 03:20:06 AM »
I can't find my notes.. I have a 4k dated diff, what would be the approximate car build date? Also would this rear end have the 65 drums with the three nubs or the later 66 style?
Thanks forecourt help.

Hello Roy, welcome. Are a 65 owner or are you building a clone/tribute. All parts you are asking for can be found on the open market..try cobra automotive, shelby parts and Restoration or delta bay mustang.

The terrible thing is that there is less than a 100 miles on the rebuilt pumkin. The entire rear was restored kf course so new everything. I went with an LSD unit instead of a Detroit locker. I appreciate the feedback as I am not knowledgeable in the area. I figured it should all be a direct drive gearing so there would be no play. Definetly it never clunked in the past so going to let the shop figure it out.

Hey there, the 66 is starting to clunk when I am slow on the clutch, slow dump kind of. Crawled under the car, the diff is leaking and I can turn the drive line back and forth with about 1/4 inch of play when in that normal?

Does anyone know if Delta Bay Mustang in Brentwood is still in business? I want to take the shelby and have door glass replaced with NOS pieces. I am in the bay area and they seem to be the closest to me. I call and email and no response.

As far as anybody can tell all 65-66 street cars came with heaters and lighters. If I'm wrong somebody please let me know. I run a heater delete because it keeps that annoying heater from eventually leaking on the floor and taking it out. Also like the clean engine compartment. The lighter delete plug is correct, I have one on my '65 coupe.

Do you have the heater defrost duct vent delete plates?

thanks for the pics!! Can you possibly make me a template for the duct deletes. Need those, wonder what would be the best matching material to cut them out of??

I have only see one damaged one and it had the ribs just hammered down perfectly and the splash buck was just bolted or screwed to it? Not sure if the metal ring is needed to be welded in if going that route? Wish I really knew..
