Send Jim at Shelby Parts and Restoration a message. I highly recommend his work. Our restored valve covers he did are amazing, they are perfect in every way.

I had purchased the middle painted one from Craig Conley, So I dont question its originality. So not sure if I remember from the old forum if the 65 plates were larger than the 66s but I believe the sensus was that the smaller one was correct for the 66 as all my research was for 6s1902

The middle one also seemed to be painted a silver color and not bare metal like the other two. Still have the other two I believe.

Found these photos on my old computer.  I saved them from the crash of SAAC 1.0.

Yea those are my pictures, the top one was a repop, the middle I bought because the seller said it was original, The bottom one is on our car, the close up shows the same type of swirl machine marks. I dont remember where I noted the measurements,

On a 65 what is under the package tray that supports the weight of the spare tire and the tray to the floor pan.  Does anyone have a picture?

Thanks

Greg,

The weight of the wheel sitting on top of the fiberglass panel is supported by the sheet metal directly under it. The wheel is held in place by SAI attaching the early Mustang spare tire hold down bracket (see 1st  photo). The spare tire hold down hardware basically sandwiches the tire in place and is supported by the sheet metal below ( see 3rd photo without panel and tire sitting there). Hope this helps you.

Cheers,
~Earl J

Great pics...Going to assume no one has made this mounting plate?? would love to get ahold of one for my spare tire mount project!!

I have 6F and 7D.......very tough to find real, original windshields.

Your right about that! I might just have to buy a 66 mustang for the windshield LOL.
