He rebuilt my 1969 GT350 Autolite and its great!

and a big thanks to you for the recommendation!

Now another topic needs to be started on rebuilding fuel pumps as Fred Ballard is struggling to keep up....his wife has health issues and he is backed waaaaay up....had my fuel pump since Feb........not complaining as he is the best but he can only do so many now.
A couple of people I know bought pumps off of Fred out right and got them relatively fast. They must have got lucky as he must have had correct date coded ones done. One was a 69 and the other was a 68.
Stu, Fred is a real interesting guy who at his age still hang glides(last I talked to him) and is licensed take passengers with him.

Please educate me how to look for panels replacements? Or problems when looking at them!

Thx
Paul
Message me your email and I can help you on 69-70s in many areas. Production changes in the model year. O probably don't know everything but know a lot. I've seen a lot of replacement metal on 69-70 BaT auctions. Like Pete has said there are telltale signs in many instances. I have a couple of original panel 1969 Bosses(302 and 429 original paint) at my disposal  built in the spring for references to  factory assembly.

The car still went  for a good price considering what others have sold for on BaT. It isn't a 180-200K 68 Vert but at that price it lets a buyer enjoy a car like this and still have room to fix surprises I'd think. We never really know if any of the bidders have had cars inspected but Pete is right that this car should have been inspected by any prospective bidders.

Bringatrailer winner is a dealer and is trying to resell it.
Interesting as the winner on BaT has zero sales or listings  on BaT. Usually dealers are selling there also. Car was sold out of Wisconsin on BaT and the selling dealer is out of California and the car is still in Wisconsin.

I have a AM/8 track player in my car. Does the car come with a dash speaker AND door speakers?  Where do I get the wiring harness for the three speakers
There are companies who sell the wiring for the stereo set up. I have a new one from NPD for my AM 8 track that goes from the radio feed wires to the door speaker wires. Your door wiring harness can be one of 2 ways: with speaker wiring or without. My 8 track was rebuilt with a 3.5MM plug so I can play my old Ipod through the radio. Gary

Love that color!!
I loved it so much I painted mine red.  ;D Seriously though I didn't like GB back when I painted mine red but have come to tolerate it. Every other blue used on Shelbys  over the years I like. I do LOVE grabber green and grabber orange.

Gary,

On that page, Amy looks cute!

The event e-mail did go out yesterday.
Come on Dan, you really like her for her other talent and smarts. :

1. During law school, I was a game show contestant on The Weakest Link, Win Ben Stein's Money, Street Smarts, Hollywood Squares, and MTV's webRIOT.

2. I'm a collegiate national baton twirling champion and was the "Golden Girl" Baton Twirler for the UCLA Marching Band.

Alright, alright,  alright, had JC do a trace on this mystery  and these are his findings:

1) Information posted on SAAC website first

2) Anthony Branda copied or print screened SAAC post and posted on his
    FB account

3) Steve White transferred or shared Mr Brandas post unto Team Shelby
     Great lakes region

As a late great friend of ours would say "we have no mysteries left as all  mysteries have been resolved.

Hopefully we can all get a good night's sleep tonight.

Thank you
The point by John was that SAAC members usually get a heads up via emails before it is put out there I think?  I would guess that would give members an early heads up for hotel reservations and such.
I did a search of SAAC board of directors and found this: https://saac.net/BOD   . I don't recognize any of them and then wondered how they are able to use the club's acronym?

We stayed at that Ramada hotel in 2019. One person from Mi had a very bad experience as they were T-boned crossing the road heading for the track by a dump truck on Saturday morning. From my recollection the room was good and not bad at all. Again, that was 2019 before the pandemic. Gary

Thanks for the link. I still will never understand some prices on Boss 302s. More than a 67 GT500?

I think the Boss only had 5500 miles on it - may be why it went for so much.
Well that would explain a lot for this car with only that many miles and condition. I have seen others restored and not low miles break 200K but at the big auctions.

Sorry, that is incorrect information, if you had only read the on topic information above, from those of us with hands on experience with such things, you would not have bothered to respond with such nonsense.  ::)

I'll post that following short video that shows the process for the body, for those not so educated.

Fantabulous news Billy!

May I recommend you apply as a senior consultant to the big insurance agencies.

Imagine that about 3K to solve this salt water intrusion issue wow !

But this is what others say about this issue:

Even with a tremendous amount of time and effort, you likely won't be able to get into every little crevice. However, the more you can do to stop salt in its tracks the longer your car will last.

Stop That Salt: How to minimize damage to your classic - Hagerty Media
https://www.hagerty.com/media/maintenance-and-tech/stop-that-salt/#:~:text=Any%20car%20that%27s%20been%20fully,is%20also%20a%20big%20help.

AND

The answer is that a flooded car can be salvaged depending on what type of water it was submerged in. If it was submerged in saltwater, it is probably best suited for the junkyard because saltwater is corrosive and can wreak havoc on the mechanical parts of the car as well as the car's interior.

Can a flooded car be fixed or saved? - nj.com
https://www.nj.com/weather/2021/09/can-a-flooded-car-be-fixed-or-saved.html

I would still stick to the  7-11 cstore hurricane car clean up kit, it's one bottle of Palmolive, one little tree air freshener and one for sale sign...

More cost effective,  adios
Chemical stripping processes are used all the time to neutralize metal and get rid of rust and contaminants. So are you saying in chemical dipping of metals when done the salt will still be there and keep rusting the metal? SMH on this one Tony. Maybe you need to do some reading  ::)   https://www.armorvci.com/news/industrial-rust-removal-acids-and-water-based-solutions-explained/
Tony said: Even with a tremendous amount of time and effort, you likely won't be able to get into every little crevice. However, the more you can do to stop salt in its tracks the longer your car will last. So lets see salt WATER can get into every crevice but a chemical solution  cannot? Cars don't rust in  a day or week from salt. I have lived in the salt belt my whole life and know the "rusting process" so if a car was flood damaged whether salt water or non salt water it takes time for the process to work. Chem stripping will eliminate all that salt and any rust that has been already there after stripping but the car has to be taken apart. Feel free to disagree with science as its a free world. Many do every day.

Bill, thanks for your expertise on this subject. What is scary is that some will not do it right and it could kill or make an owner down the road very sick. That is why the history of cars are so important.

I like all makes of cars. I never understood the one make only crowd. On another note I HATE seeing all these beautiful cars waterlogged.. From a Shelby signature delete owner.  :)
