Yes Ed I said for a variety of reasons but it had to be modified for one purpose and that was the taller LeMans valve covers. The other reasons were based on stock applications like all 68s having a snorkel ,heat shield and S tube so it had to be produced also to match  those components whether it was emissions or drivability for "performance" so to speak.

These cars being over 50 years old mods like this many times were "day 2" mods for a variety of reasons so 50 years later on an "untouched car for decades they could show patina like original. Ford didn't spend $$$$$$ on tooling for a unique Shelby item like the KR Snorkel unless a car NEEDED it for a variety of reasons.

Anybody know how BAT handles the commission on signs?

Same as the cars I would assume.  5% buyer commission, max $5k.

Base listing fee for seller, $99 or $250 for plus package (pics)
I was informed the other day BaT increased their max to 7500.

Tough to look at.  Notwithstanding the challenging restoration... repro SFM tag, replacement tach/intake/carb to name a few items...

Looks like maybe it was stored outside under a carport with a cover on it.
agreed but still better shape than this car in the link it appears. Not a dynacorn candidate like someone above  said(who would ever dynacorn a Shelby?) like this car was. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1966-ford-mustang-223/
The unknown is after stripping are you left with a pitted car with some holes  or a "holely" car?

My car is originally an automatic however now lives with a four speed and Hurst shifter. Curious what the 66 manual Shelby Mustangs have for a cover plate. I have seen a few pictures with what appears to be a floating chrome bezel. Below is the current configuration. Does it need a bezel is my question.

My boot kept splitting from the floating bezel so I went with the deluxe and no more boot splitting!

I bought a 67 that has a hurst in it with that deluxe plate, it loos good, and works well, but i will order the 70 boss 302 one
Here is the 70 Hurst boot in my 69 428SCJ Mach1. The boots like to split at the top front. You can see the gap from the split in my pics below. I'll replace the boot this year and see what happens. The Hurst is much better than the Ford shifter in my Vert.

I found the stock boot a little binding for the Hurst shifter. I used a shift boot and trim from a '69-'70 with the factory Hurst shifter. Fit's way better.

I didn't get a chance to comment on your GT350 31 spline axle comment as you deleted it real quick. LOL. Hey, I get notifications on SAAC topics and boy I delete a lot of emails thanks to your spam posting every day(some of your longtime spam topics I quit following).

I've been looking for a set of these for years but I am looking for a well restored set.  What I am wondering, is, if a guy Like Tim Lea (or someone else capable of restoring 68 hubcaps) would even consider restoring these and if he felt that he could bring them up to a condition that would be worth the investment?

QSS
I got a good friend who now has collected a lot of hubcaps and extra wheels for his 68 GT350 vert including a full box of NOS hubcaps bought from another member(Thanks Don). If you are in no hurry as his car is a long project when he decides exactly what to do he will be selling his extras. He even bought a pair of the 15"  NOS Galaxie caps just for the pie plates. If you find any that are pitted or bad chrome  then they are not worth restoring.

Wife and I were at Barrett Jackson and we saw this 69 GT350. Based on the description :D and the included documentation it had to be a top notch car.  It even included a "rare" and desirable Matini Report.

QSS

PS  How come I can never figure out how to rotate a picture on this site?
is it possible looking at your 2 pics that the pics default as "landscape" style?

I think we are in agreement

I dont see a reserve price in the auction?
The 49K opening bid was the reserve price so to speak. I do not believe you can have a reserve auction with an opening price bid of-say-49K?
