Can anyone help decipher the factory stampings on the inside and rear of this rim. Thanks in advance for your help. Denny

These are definitely aftermarket assemblies, no manufacture markings on either one. My guess is a product made overseas somewhere. The original OEM harness is in place on the car, and there are only two wires going to each plug that feeds the parking light/turn signal assembly. The sockets pick up ground from the frame through the mounting hardware. No third wire for grounding built into the harness.

Thanks again Lincoln tech!

Ok everyone who replied to my earlier post, problem found, and issue solved. Front turn signal assembly was wired incorrectly from the factory. Both sides, right and left turn signal assemblies had the power from the turn signal light routed to the parking light side of the bulb. Once reversed, they worked as they should. Lincoln Tech, you were spot on with your comment. My guess is that the previous owner never knew the front signals didn't work with the headlights turned on, ever since he replaced the assemblies years ago, during restoration. I only discovered the problem after a friend of mine noticed that my turn signals weren't working, one morning when it was early enough that I had my headlights on when we were gathering to go to a local car show. See photo of repair solution.

It appears that the brightest filament is the parking light side of the bulb. Thanks

I put all new bulbs in two days ago, as part of my trouble shooting. Bench tested them all prior to installation. Thanks

Thank you, Dan. I'll use the Cougar troubleshooting guide next and see what happens.

TOB, fog lights and interior lights are all testing good. Thanks

To answer a couple of your questions:

I did replace the headlight switch, and no change in results.
I did physically pull the ground wires and clean the ground wire terminals, screws, and frame points.

Could it be one of the flasher units? I think there are two, one for the turn signals and another for the four ways, is that correct? Thanks

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Front Turn signal HELP
« on: February 29, 2024, 03:52:15 PM »
My front turn signals stop working when I pull on my headlight switch. All bulbs, sockets, connectors, fuses, and grounds checked and functioning properly. Flashers work as they should.
BUT, once the headlight switch is activated the front turn signals STOP blinking. The rear turn signals and marker lights work as they should, it's just the front two turn signal bulbs that stop blinking and stay just lit.
Upon further testing at the front turn signal sockets, with the bulbs removed, I'm getting 12 volts on both the turn signal side of the bulb tip and the parking lamp bulb tip when the parking lights are turned on. With the parking lights off and the turn signals activated, only the turn signal side of the socket carries 12 Volts, like it should.
Any ideas where this head light voltage could be leaking over to the turn signal side of the circuit? Could it be in the turn signal switch in the steering column itself? Thanks in advance, Denny

Is this a photo of the same Ray Brown that made the seatbelts for the 65-66 GT-350's?

Thanks 98SVT. I read the article you posted in your message link, and it gives me something else to think about. This afternoon I cleaned up the oil mess that was spitting out after yesterday's drive. I started the engine up again and the oil pressure gauge went to 75 on start. It hung around 70 until completely warmed up and then dropped back to 55 and stayed there at idle. Give it gas and back toward 70 lbs it goes. I ran it for fifteen minutes this way and didn't observe any oil spitting out around the distributor or intake gasket. What the heck? I guess I'll take it out on a real road test and see if I can determine where the oil is coming from. I still think 70 lbs is too high. The in-dash gauge works as it should, it's not the problem. Thanks again.

Background: 351 C in a 1970 Mach 1. A couple weeks ago, while driving the car, I noticed my oil pressure gauge needle climb to the “H” on the scale. Car runs fine, doesn’t overhead. Oil and filter changed a short while ago. Running 10W-30 Mobile synthetic.
First, I changed oil and filter again in case the filter was clogged up. Gauge still reads “H”. Next, I installed new oil pressure sending unit at the block. Started up and the oil pressure gauge needle still resting on the “H”. Then I pulled the sending unit from the block and installed a test oil pressure gauge that actually reads pounds of pressure. At engine start up over 74 LBS pressure. After full warm-up, the gauge still high, around 62-64 LBS. After a few laps around the block, oil pressure stays above 60 LBS while driving and falls back to 40 at idle. Next, I replaced the oil pump with a new Melling unit, 84A as recommended by the tech at Melling’s hot line. No change in oil pressure reading, darn it. Another longer test drive again, and upon close inspection, it appears that the engine is pushing a little oil out, either at the distributer seal, or the front of the intake gasket.  This is as far as I can go with my limited knowledge of engines. Oil passageways plugged. Any advice appreciated before I pull the engine. The engine sounds fine and makes no noises like its lacking lubrication anywhere. Feel free to PM me if you’d like to discuss my dilemma or call me 864-321-0248.  Thanks in advance, Denny
