Here's a link to a nice article about John Chun and his history with designing GT-350-500's.

I'm looking for a little help to see if this is the correct Magnum 500 wheel for a Hertz car. It sure looks close, and the backspace is 3 3/8's as you can see from the one photo. However the stencil by Wheel Corp. is in the same location as my other wheels. Also this wheel has several stampings on the reverse side of the rim. None of my other wheels have this. This wheel has no "C" behind the 795 stamping. Thanks in advance, Denny

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / More C-4 questions
May 04, 2020, 02:07:24 PM
First, The transmission dipstick tube, Painted? If so, blue or black?

Second, The inspection plate, painted or not? If painted, what color?

Third, The inspection plate attaching bolts, painted or not?

Fourth, Any recommendations on replacement gaskets for the transmission pan?

Fifth, Any recommendations on a replacement "O" ring seal for the dipstick?

Lastly, The dipstick itself, the finger pull at the top, painted or not?

Thanks in advance, Denny

Hey Guys,
The other day Kieth and I were discussing intakes and we came back to the old thread that you guys worked on, to see if we could find an answer to our question, but didn't find it. So............here goes, on the underside of our intakes, on one of the posts we both have castings that are OECO, and under that A W L.
Do you guys know what "the A W L" represents?
We both thought it was posted somewhere in the past, but we couldn't find it again.
On the other bottom post, my intake has two letters cast there, see photo, of F G.
Could those be an inspector's initials?
On Kieth's intake, the other post is blank.
Does anyone else have similar castings?
Thanks in advance, Denny

One of my horns suddenly stopped working. I checked the circuit and there is power to the horns, only one of them won't sound. Anyone know a source for repair? Thanks

Attached is a link to some photos taken today at our Club's meeting.

Special thanks goes out to Steve Hall at the Mustang Museum for being such a gracious host. The Museum is just gorgeous, well worth a visit if you're in the Charlotte/Concord area. Only a mile up the road from the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Lots of very interesting cars on display, and walls filled with memorabilia. Do it if you get an opportunity.

Brian Glover conducted the Club meeting and shared some of his Shelby-Cobra collectables with the members. You'll see in the photos what an outstanding collection Brian has acquired over the years. Each item on the display has its own unique story and history. Where do find all this cool stuff? Thanks for sharing it with us!

Thanks to everyone in the Club who showed up to share their rides with us. Some really outstanding Shelbys were there again today. Woody bought his 67 GT-350 new and still enjoys it. How about that!  65's through 69's on hand today.

Carolina Region SAAC / Concours d'Elegance McCormick, SC
September 28, 2019, 11:48:11 AM
Last evening the McCormick Arts Council, held their Concours d'Elegance car show at the MACK studio in downtown McCormick, SC. This year there were nine featured cars invited to the show. One of our SAAC members, Dave Monteau, was invited to display CSX 4878 at the event. Dave and two other owners, participated in the charity event by offering rides in their beautiful and exotic cars. A raffle was held, and those wanting to take a ride were offered to purchase tickets for the drawing. The proceeds from the raffle went to Arts Council. It was a perfect setting, wonderful dinner, the hosts were simply awesome, and everyone had such a great time. Even in a small town such as McCormick, SC cars like Dave's Cobra always draw a crowd.

See the link below for photos of some of the featured cars.

There was a local car show in Greenwood, SC today, a charity fundraiser for the Connie Maxwell home. The home is a place for children who have been abandoned, abused or neglected. Here they receive care, love, and education.

Local SAAC members, Dave Monteau with his Cobra CSX 4878, and Denny Dietz with 6S1568.

Also pictured is an early Backdraft Cobra was there.

Around 50 cars showed up today for the first annual Irmo High School Band's Car Show. One of our South Carolina SAAC members, Rich Guyette, was instrumental in setting up the fund raising event. All the proceeds went to benefit the Band. Last year the Irmo High School Band finished second in the state's band competition. Rich and the other volunteers worked very hard and put on a great show. Plenty of food and drinks, and band members entertained us too. Weather was perfect!

Steve Berch was there in his late model GT-500 Convertible.
Rich Guyette had his 1968 GT-350 on display.
And myself, Denny Dietz, with 6S1568.

SAAC-44 / Anything to eat or drink there?
February 05, 2019, 11:47:39 AM
We were disappointed while attending SAAC 42 that there were no food or drink vendors at the track complex in Indianapolis. We ended up buying an ice chest and bringing our own drinks with us from day two on. So..............what are the plans for SAAC 44 regarding drinks and lunch? Thanks, Denny

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Under Dash Wires?
December 22, 2018, 06:27:54 PM
There are two wires under the dash that have puzzled me for quite some time. Anyone know what these wires are for?

A single black wire behind the instrument cluster that has some kind of a spade tip on it.

A bright green wire under the dash just left of the steering column.

Thanks in advance, Denny

Yesterday's event was attended by only a few of the bravest members of our Club. Morning showers gave way just in time for Tom Cotter's opening address where he welcomed his guests, and invited them to his luncheon buffet. Tom and his family are such gracious hosts. If I heard correctly this was his 20th year hosting the "Woody Party". You'll see in the photos at the link I've provided why it's called the "Woody Party", just look at those beautiful wood sided cars!

From our Club:
John Callis           1967 GT-350
Woody Woodruff  1967 GT-350
John Duari          1967 GT-350
Tom Cotter's       1966  GT-350   and his Red Cobra, you know the one the bear chewed on in Alaska.
Denny Dietz       1966 GT-350H
Stan Simm         Left his 1966 GT-350 at home drove his beautiful red Porsche instead (better windshield wipers)
Andy Killian        Left his Cobra at home, can't blame him either.

Can anyone tell me the meaning of the numbers 19, 20, and 21 that are found cast into the corners of the HiPO heads. I've seen combinations of these on some engines while others seem to have identical numbers on each head. Thanks.

I want to replace my worn out seat foam in my front seats. I have the replacements on order from Brant. I believe that the seat coverings in the Shelby are original to the car, but they could have been replaced along the way. My question is how do I tell? Do the original covers have a manufacturer's marking or tag somewhere on the material? Thanks in advance, Denny

Attached at the bottom is a link that will take you to my Snapfish album featuring photos from the event.

John Durai was there with his fantastic 1967 GT-350
George and Linda Byrd drove their 1967 GT-500 up from Greenville, at nine miles per gallon of fun.
Ted Staples made it to the event but unfortunately he had to leave his KR home.
Ben Garrido showed up in his gorgeous black 1968 GT-350 Convertible.

The folks at the National Mustang Museum are an exceptional group of Mustang/Shelby enthusiasts, and put on a great three day event.
Friday afternoon saw a huge number of participants take advantage of the open track at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The 1967 Trans am mustang, and a GT-40 were two of my favorites. Lots of newer Shelby's and GT-350's soaring around the track. Check out the pair of "Bullitt" Stangs I spotted in the car corral.

We toured the Dennis Carpenter museum Friday and it was a blast to see all the antiques and vintage cars that Dennis has rescued and restored.

On Saturday we visited Daniel Carpenter's personal Mustang Museum featuring the Fox body style cars. Most of them with less than 100 miles on the odometer.

We met Bill Harris of Harris Mustang Supply which is located there in Charlotte. A couple of cars previously owned by Bill were in the collection too. Bill's business is one of the oldest Mustang part distributors in the Southeast, established in 1976.

You'll see a photo of John Durai and Bill Harris in the album. John on the left, Bill on the right. As it turns out, they were high school classmates and filled with stories about their love of hi performance cars. Both men are still holding on tightly to their Shelby's.

Enjoy the photos, Denny
