This is actually laughable and ridiculous, this seller obviously supports the car rebody market....  Their reputation should mean more to them than a few $$....

I know a guy who has a complete 65 Shelby motor and the Borg Warner  transmission for sale. He got the motor/trans from his buddies totalled 65 Shelby way back in '73. He put them in a coupe and he said it is way to much motor for the car. I guess it took him this long to decide. I would think the motor and transmission will both need to be rebuilt as the pictures I have seen showed a really dirty motor. Anyone have an idea on value of the motor and transmission ?

From what I have seen, the trans is worth around $10-12K and the engine $8K without the rare intake, carb, fuel pump etc...  with the rare stuff $15K.    I hope this helps

Was it ever told who purchased the Bullitt car at Mecum?

Just curious how did "Fake", "Clone", "Replica" fall under this topic?  The car in subject clearly isn't and these terms probably shouldn't be used under this subject.  Thats how a bad history for a car starts, I don't think any of us would want these terms used on a thread that had our car listed in the subject....

I see, my suggestion would be to start a different thread.

#1452 is too late to have a steel innerstructure hood from the factory . The early hood came from a GT500 based on the cuts into the inner structure to clear the GT500 oval air cleaner front and rear. Also white overspray on the hood latch bringing in more questions for the all original paint claim.

My guess would be the car had a fender bender early in its life and the hood replaced.  There has obviously been some painting through the years as well.

Girl does need some love and old man rust is waiting for the next owner to address :).

Answer.... All good things must come to an end!

Absolutely significant, if you are going by the amount of involvement of CS in defining this, here is something to think about.... the 65 and 66's styling was Fords (after all it was just a mustang :-) converted for Shelby performance)..... but the 67-70 were significantly different than their mustang counterparts  :).

I am a firm believer in this.... When a person looks for "the deal" they miss many opportunities to purchase really great cars.  People that own a Shelby knows what they are worth and they aren't going down in value.

Good cars will always hold their value.

Market value fluctuates, could one be purchased under current market value, absolutely.  There are enough dealers in the Shelby arena that can attest to that, if they weren't, those resellers wouldn't be in business.

The original question about selling it to a SAAC member at a discount, for some reason the OP implies that being a member affords you some discount.  It does not, in fact, a current SAAC member should know what the current market is doing and be prepared to purchase a vehicle at that level.

As always, cash is king and some folks will take $20-30K less to have cash in hand and not a lot of folks keep $200-300K laying around.

Such a shame...

Congratulations, that was a fair process and a fair winning bid.

5S109 is unrestored and white.

I own 5S109 and the Ford Vin is definitely not sequential, not even close.
