1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Upper side scoops
July 12, 2021, 06:17:07 PM
Just wondering how well the paint coverage was on original upper side scoops. Can anyone share any original paint photos? My car was repainted in the late 70's before I bought it and coverage of the body color inside the upper side scoop is minimal. Was thinking about shooting some body color on the scoops, but would like to get a good idea what would have been acceptable.

Thank you.

Trying to figure out the manufacturer of my 2007 GT 500 side louvers. They mount with three shoulder style Allen bolts into three brackets. Attached are a few photos. Hoping someone will recognize these, as most are just double stick tape mounting. These are easily removed for glass cleaning.

Thank you.

Does anyone have a set of photos that compares the 67/68 floor pans vs. 69/70 floor pans? In addition, is anyone selling the correct 69/70 floor pans?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

1965 GT350/R-Model / 65 GT 350 air cleaner
April 03, 2021, 08:00:34 PM
Can anyone advise on the best available air cleaner lid for a 65/66 GT 350? I recently bought an ACP air cleaner, but it did not have the correct detents to accept the correct wing nut.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Does anyone have a recommendation for 2 1/2" diameter s.s. mandrel bent tailpipes for staggered shock applications? I've been using Magnaflow pipes and mufflers on my other cars, but am having a difficult time location tailpipes that will work with staggered shocks. Does not appear that 2 1/2" diameter tailpipes are available except in a complete exhaust system. Any suggestions or recommendations, as I have Hooker Headers, custom h-pipe and Magnaflow s.s. mufflers already on that are designed for quick removal. Do not like the muffler back tailpipes that were crush bent, so trying to find a suitable solution even if it is a multi piece kit that fits the staggered shocks and allows for exit through the valance. Will also be using the 2 1/2" diameter KR style exhaust tips with rolled edges.

Thanks for the input.

I have a 2007 GT 500 and recently a noise occurs when changing the heater / AC controls. Sounds like a clicking noise behind the radio. I'm speculating that it could be a gear driven control for the heater / AC ducts. Has anyone experienced this and is it a difficult and or expensive repair? Any help is appreciated.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / M & H muscle car drag tires
February 24, 2021, 08:52:05 PM
Anyone have any experience with M & H muscle car DOT drag tires? I'm looking at trying a set of J60 x 15's that are similar in size to the 255 60 x 15 Comp TA street tires that I run on my KR. Is there a better option than the M & H tires?

Thank you.

Found a 1970 red flat hood Boss 302 M2 collectible at Walmart this morning. It appears to be a new Goodyear Series for the "New Polyglas GT" tire.

1965 GT350/R-Model / Port hole hood
November 04, 2020, 07:24:27 PM
Has anyone seen after about 10 years being painted, a port hole hood adhesive bleeding through and being able to be seen? My port hole hood has noticeable splotches at each adhesive location bonding the hood together. These were not visible until after about 10 years in a sunny Florida environment. Car is garaged, but used often?

Another questions. Who makes the best side exhaust in 2 1/2" diameter for a 65? I'm thinking JBA but would value any first hand experience.

Thank you.

Just my observation, but the early KR air cleaner decals that have the Autolite star leave much to be desired. Looks like a poor copy of a copy to me.

Getting ready to restore my air cleaner and noticed the top has ripples in the stamping? Is this common?

Thanks.

Looking for additional photos of KR 04412 racing in Maryland / Delaware area in the early to mid 1970's. Attached are a few photos I received when I bought the car in 1981. Any photos or info would be appreciated.

Appeals / 715 cfm tuning
September 16, 2020, 01:40:03 PM
Been fighting a slight bog when cruising at 35 to 40 mph then try to accelerate hard. The engine is a 327 stroker with X 303 cam, Cobra dual plane intake and tri-y headers. I currently have 67 primary and 80 secondary jets. Using the #2 position green cam and a #28 shooter. (Elevation is 20 feet above sea level in the Daytona Beach area)

It has been suggested to change the 30 cc accelerator pump to a 50 cc pump and use the quick change secondary housing for ease of tuning the secondary opening. Using a 3/8" spacer and Hi-PO open element air cleaner.

The car originally bogged when starting out, but changing to the #28 shooter, green cam in the #2 position and better adjustment of the accelerator pump cured that issue. Just need to get the "mash the gas" bog adjusted out. Once the initial bog ends, the car accelerates hard up to 7,500 rpm.

Any help getting me turned in the right direction will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Appeals / 68 Shelby wheel cover rings
September 13, 2020, 09:32:00 PM
Has anyone ever investigated having the 68 Shelby polished wheel cover rings reverse engineered / reproduced? Is there enough interest in having new rings
reproduced?

Has anyone seen the article today in the Detroit Free Press regarding a new, starting at $298,000 carbon fiber "Eleanor"? Twenty-five are to be built and listed in the Shelby Registry!????? Hopefully these are not included in any SAAC Registry! Maybe their own registry, but do not dilute the real cars with these recreations from "rusted" junk Mustangs. I believe the article stated that the Ford VIN's will be used and new Shelby numbers assigned. Just not right! What do you think?
