1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: Trunk mount battery
« on: November 16, 2019, 03:14:01 PM »
Does anyone reproduce and sell only the early battery hold down bracket? If not, does anyone have a drawing or sketch? I would like to look at the possibility to reproduce if there is interest?

1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: Later version of R-model apron brake ducts
« on: October 29, 2019, 10:44:40 AM »
I have photos of the late version ducts as fabricated by Tony Conover. email me at gt350bp@bellsouth.net, as I am unable to post pictures on the site. If someone can post, that would be great.

I do not believe any original cars mixed and matched early round ducts and the oval ducts. There are quite a few replicas with a mismatch of parts however.

Sorry about that!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Roll bar repair

I think I'd investigate a large diameter shrink wrap material that is used for rollers on roller table etc. Once it is shrunk wrapped, might be able to simulate the pebble grain finish with a truck bed liner paint / finish??? Just a thought.

Appeals / Re: Was there not a post here for 67 Shelby AC parts?
« on: October 01, 2019, 08:17:05 AM »
There was an add by Scode67FB back in May for 67/68 AC brackets and 69/70 brackets. I reached out numerous times for the 67/68 brackets, but never got a response. Even asked to confirm that they were sold or "not for sale" any longer, but no response.

1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: Tire shopping - Avon CR6ZZ question
« on: August 02, 2019, 07:16:50 PM »
I have 225 / 60 x 15 (front) and 245 / 60 x 15 (rear) mounted on Torque Thrust D's. Front fender lips flattened as well as the rear. I did have 255 / 60 x 15 R1's on the rear, but they rubbed when full fuel tank. This is on a 65 GT 350 Competition replica with the large tank.

1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: 1965 fuel pumps
« on: July 24, 2019, 05:59:51 PM »
R-Models used the mechanical pumps with SW 240-A electric pumps. I do not recall seeing any fuel pump switches on a R-Model dash, so are they wired to run when the car is running?

Another question is what fuel pressure is normal for a car running the electric pump and mechanical pump combination. Would it be common to see a
+/- 2 psi fluctuation on the fuel pressure gauge?

All input is appreciated, as I'm still working my way through a perceived fuel pressure issue on my GT 350 Competition replica running a Mallory 110 electric pump and a new Carter canister style mechanical pump for daily driving.

Thank you

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Re: headers for 427 FE Engine
« on: July 21, 2019, 10:20:25 AM »
My experience with FE headers on my GT 500KR is the Hooker Super Comps. Only issue I had was the collector flanges with interference at the transmission mount cross bracing on the floor pans. Collectors should have been 1/2" to 1" longer.

Installation was made easier by lifting the engine 3" to 4" and leave off the block engine mounts for header installation.  I installed the headers through the radiator support and was able to slide them up along the side without any issues. (Did  grind the  shock tower reinforcing about 3/16" for header bolt clearance. Using Summit small diameter stainless steel header bolts.) My car is using a Genesis block side-oiler with 482 cu. in. built by Keith Kraft. Now that the installation is done, I wish I would have used the Hooker race headers without flanges for my application, as they are larger diameter tubes and would not have had the interference issues at the transmission mount bracing.

Hope this is of some help to anyone installing FE headers. I probably have a series of pics of the install.

1965 GT350/R-Model / 1965 fuel pumps
« on: June 03, 2019, 03:48:22 PM »
Just received a new Carter 65 canister style fuel pump and it is significantly different than the Carter pumps from 15-20 years ago! Does anyone have a better option than the new Carter pump made in Korea? The pump diameter is even bigger and just does not look close enough for my liking. I want a new pump for the trip to SAAC 44, as will be driving from Florida. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.
