My supposedly NOS taillight emblem has been stored inside for years. It has developed a red color hue or iridescence. Has anyone else encountered this?

Does the negative cable from the battery to the starter take 1 or 2 bracket/grommets? If 2, do both attach to the motor mount?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Door strikers and fuel line
February 27, 2021, 12:28:07 PM
Were all door strikers stamped with the month-date on the post for March 66 Shelby's? If so, how far in advance of the build date is usual for the date on the strikers?

Does the rubber fuel hose from the fuel line to the fuel pump have and script or labeling on it?

Same question for the hose at the fuel sender.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / PCV Rubber Hose
February 23, 2021, 06:47:34 PM
Looking to find out the most correct pcv rubber hose to use on a March built '66 Shelby. For example, is it ribbed or alligator finish and what approximate outside diameter is it? According to what I have seen in pictures here and what I have read here, there could be a difference in hoses on the engines assembled at Ford with the hose attached and those cars where the hose was installed at SAI.

Thank you.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Tach wiring picture
February 22, 2021, 06:12:20 PM
I am looking for a picture  and wiring diagram of the wire connections for the Shelby tach for a 66 built in March. I have my original dash wiring loom and it has splices with the original tach wires wire spliced in with crimp on red butt connectors. My tach has been rewired and I want to make sure I get the wiring right and as close to original as possible. My tach has a red, blue and a black wire.

Thanks for the help.

Concours Talk / Wheel weights on a 66 Hertz car
January 20, 2021, 02:29:21 PM

Would there be a point deduction in the Concours Trailered class if a Hertz car did not have wheel weights on the Magnum 500 wheels?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Detailing Questions?
January 19, 2021, 09:54:31 PM
These questions regard a March 1966 Shelby Hertz.

At delivery to the first Hertz rental location would a car have had the paper tags for radiator, battery (other than the white sticker near the battery), and the paper instruction and warning tags in the passenger compartment?

Would a Hertz car have had the instruction sheet for maintaining and cleaning the plexiglass side windows in the glovebox?

Did the Hertz cars have 1966 Mustang Owner' Manuals with the red stamped "Void For G.T. 350"? If so, which pages were stamped?

Was the 1966 Mustang Owner's Manual filled out with Hertz as the purchaser?

Thank you!

These questions concern the export mounting bracket at the cowl for March built 66 Shelbys.

My L angle mounting bracket was skip welded to the cowl. Was this the way it was done?
I suppose it was done that way to not warp the cowl.

It was obvious the worker beat the heck out of the cowl before mounting it. I am surprised he didn't damage the cowl. After it was welded it was heavily coated on all four sides and over the face of it with what looks like a brown seam sealer. Then it was painted over.

How was this bracket painted? Spray can, brush or out of a gun?

Thanks.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Tachometer Wiring Grommet?
November 29, 2020, 08:25:53 PM
Did the original tachometer have a grommet where the wires pass through the mounting bracket? Mine does not have a grommet; just a hole in the mounting bracket.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Upper Control Arm Shims
November 29, 2020, 09:05:23 AM
My 66 Shelby had about 10 alignment shims per side used with the upper control arms. Did 66 Shelbys use more shims since they had the longer pitman and idler arms?

Here is a picture of brake "wing" hardware. These are also called cable anchors. Does anyone know which (if any) of these was used on March 1966 built Shelbys?  The assembly manual shows the wing style anchor used on rear drum brakes.

The hole for the mounting stud on each of these shown in the picture is 1/2" which is too small to install over the 3/4" mounting stud on the backing plate without enlarging it.

I have also attached a picture of my rear brakes with a modified (drilled out) cable anchor installed. I am pretty sure my brakes never had a cable anchor.

Feedback on what these came like from SAI in 66?
