Beautiful.  I think that guy is on Bring a Trailer by the name of TXJudge.  He sold a K-code Fairlane that was drop dead gorgeous.  This one is right up there too.

The comments are just priceless.

Unless it's really corroded, a good sized crescent wrench should do the trick as well.

GT40 - Original/Mk V / Re: How much difference? (Mk II)

Would someone please explain how much difference there is (was?) between the GT40 MkIIs as built/raced by Shelby American vs the "lightweight" cars run by Alan Mann at LeMans in 1966?
(I'm especially wondering about this after seeing the Movie a couple of times and trying to explain to non-car folks about the yellow Mk II XGT-1  that we visit at the Simeone Museum)
Thanks.

Mark P - speaking of XGT-1, here it is @ TWS when Rick owned it.  He & David are playing pretty hard.  Music is good too, starts @ 3:03...  Enjoy ~5:22 of vintage footage from the mid 70's.  Think Dave was running a B302 w/Webers @ the time.  XGT-1 just walks away...

Wow... I scanned the pictures, read the ad copy.  Wow.  Shit like that breaks my heart...  Lots of 'weasel words' used to describe the car.  For what is allegedly a 'full rest', there are a lot of issues...  Who in the world that restores cars would ever paint the door checks?  Even taping them off is cheesy enough.  If you install AC, at least source the correct registers.  SMH.  Those tie downs for the surf boards.. Um, yea... Not restored...  Someone REALLY wanted an Aca Blue 68 BB Convertible...

Touche' ShelbyDoug - Touche'...  The BFG Radial TA look/image has been 'cemented' in my mind on Shelby's since the mid 70's... Way different look tread-wise then vs. now.

Up For Auction / Re: 6S1172 - on BAT

Gary & ShelbyDoug...  Agree.  Another thought is a skilled automotive entrepreneur could go after the car, take the non-OEM parts off, sell those in a separate venue, make some $, then put the car back to a more original shape clean-up/detail the engine bay & underside and interior and pull another 30K+ out of it..   Maybe do ok...& use the 'hope' of the peanut gallery or perhaps CaptianMyCaptain if they were so lucky.

Wow... Great feed-back folks-  Thank you.  Had no idea on Westley's either.  Thank you for the heads-up on that!

Hey everybody, thank you for all taking the time to comment and provide detailed insight. One thing on the white letters, I've had the same issue. The trick I use is a product called Westley's Bleach White. It works great to take the brown out.  Sounds like the general consensus given tire manufacturers and available sizes is now 235 x 60 x 15. That seems to closely mimic the original tire size. I appreciate everyone's help and assistance with this.  More to come.

Gary, you are right. I've seen those same auctions and scratch my head. That's certainly not me but I do see a lot of that. Works great for the seller I guess.

I've always liked the sapphire blue/white cars.  The sapphire/gold does present well however.  Think this guy's in a tough spot...  It's not all that original to command the big $$$ nor is it all that well restored to either...  Plus the mods he's done.  No doubt appealing, but not 'right' either..all personal preference.  Wish him all the best...

Up For Auction / Up on BaT over the weekend

Looks like a nice 69'.  I noticed the pic of the registry says Mitch Hughes (no relation to me - but he did build a CAV GT40 for me in 2004), so I called him and let him know it was up for auction.  Will be interested to see what it sells for. next Saturday.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Consensus on BFG TA's

What's the preferred size for the BFG TA radials for the 69/70's?  Based on searching the forum, looks like 235x60x15.  Way back, I thought I recall buddies who ran 275x50x15's, but looks like that size is NLA.  Thank you in advance for the help folks-
