So, I'm not you SME here for Hemi's...  Sounds like he has an 'asking price' already?  If yes, how grounded is that?  No need to disclose, am sure you've done your homework.  There are plenty of price guides around.  Should be a good color.  What's the reason for the partial repaint, do you know?  What climate was in DD in?  If not running for 20 years, could cost you 5-20K to get it safely driving again.  Off the cuff, I'm thinking: Belts/hoses/brakes/lines/tank/service/fluids/bearings/tires/anti-freeze/pull the pan & valve covers/gaskets/services parts/ensure the motor is not seized or has any damage to effect start-up/battery/filters/etc.  Then, with so much original paint, a nice 1 or 2K exterior detail.  Interior should not need much, but your nose will tell you once you open the door.  Hopefully, wiring is all good, not all cut under the dash or mouse/rat eaten.  Like any project, it can quickly go from what you think is reasonable to geometrically out of control.  Do you suffer from OCD?  I do, a simple couple of items on 1 car turned into a 13 month complete restoration.  Basically, an upside down gold-mine for me.  What are your plans?  Hopefully, you have waaaay more restraint than me.  If you can buy it at a fair price, drive it, have fun, not spend too much, then may be a fair deal.  Oh, if you want all date coded stuff vs. nice re-pop parts, that too will have an impact.  I am sure I am missing a bunch...  Does it have all OEM glass?  Without more detail, maybe 150-200?

Ouch, that's not a very charitable number. I wonder if the sellers name is Benjamin Dover. Maybe goes by Ben?

He'd be much better off with a Boss 302 service block.  That's what I used for my 347 back in the mid 90's.  As far as what it's worth, good luck on used parts w/o have any idea of wear & tear, sizing, etc.

In 1972, I was a dumb-ass 11 year old kid & spent the better part of $20.00 hard earned dollars for what I later felt was a 'con artist' taking advantage of a kid and bought a PoS Briggs & Stratton engined Mini Bike...  What sold me, that line of "runs great, but needs a 'little tinkering'...  My older brother of 7 years was there to help me get it home.  I cannot tell you how many times he's rammed that down my throat with other projects.... "Hey Tom, looks great,,,could use a little tinkering though"...  Still bitter about that $20.00... but, hey it was a great education for me.

I was going to say exactly that... "What someone else is willing to pay for it"...Which can be a ridiculous amount...  BUT... (HUGE BUT!)... to get max $$$, it will take some efforts.  Research, elbow grease, no emotional attachment, pictures, marketing, and host it somewhere that makes sense; e.g., BAT for example... (case in point here, a 11K+ 66 steel hood) if done well.  Good luck..  Motivating someone else can be difficult.  I have seen a lot of nice cars get worse over time because someone with a dream "that was gonna restore it one day later died".

Agree-  Not a survivor in my opinion... Kind of 'poetic license' to use that term...  I am surprised BaT let them get away with that.  Why no rocker stripes?  They don't just simply peel off...  If you've ever had to remove them, you'd know.   It's a bear!  S, that tells me that roughly ~1/3 of the lower half has been re-sprayed...  That poor 715 CP... At least they have it.  I know one of our members can do a nice job on it.  The SS center piece ugh.. That rocker switch...  Go find another one of those...  may be easier/better to pit it back together with OEM/Factory AC if you are going to drive it at all.  Good starting point, yea, I guess.  for a 151G's... Ouch, you must really want a white car badly... I get it.  Not a lime gold fan.  I settled for red, but really wanted nightmist blue.  But, hey, it's got new Koni's and a new gas tank...  Wish them both all the best...  Seems the seller's getting one helluva deal.  I am guessing the last 2 minutes on this one is going to be zero raises.

Not sure of all the reasons you raise - quite possibly non-performance, I dunno.  I read all those books in the 70's through the early 90's - long time ago, then sold them all to fund a GT40 along with a bunch of other CS/Bill Neale memorabilia.  You are right on the (limited) ability to manufacture - Hank did the assembly line thing, CS for the most part did not...  So, no doubt there...  I think however the issue(s) you are raising have more to do about the perspective of all those who "wrote those books"...  It's not my PoV...It was CS & his 'cronies' for the most part.  In any event, I can assure you it was not Hank the Duce or Ford in general....hence the juandiced perspective(s) published.

Or Ford again not happy with compliance or production results. One has to acknowledge making 500 widgets the first year was a challenge.  Come year two and three, are you ramped up to handle an additional demand on widgets ?

I don't think CS and crew had the ability, man power, resources to continue their product growth.  Sometimes  your worst enemy is your very own success
