I use Gibbs HR  hot rod oil with zinc https://drivenracingoil.com/c-1389462-shop-by-product-hot-rod-engine-oils.html   Then after its broken in I upgraded  to the high zinc at about 1500 ppm Amsoil synthetic Dominator. My idle changed up about 200 rpm in my 289 .

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: Restoration progress
August 01, 2023, 05:49:24 PM
Thank you for sharing this fantastic restoration process, details and the ivy green with no stripes is beautiful. I'm representing 6S852 which was the same paint configuration as yours here. that is now Wimbledon white with guardsman blue stripes.. , it will be going on bring a trailer in the next few days. A friend of Carroll Shelby's purchased it, and it still has its black and gold California plates. it will be listed under Johnnydarkgt350 private seller and listed as 1966 Shelby GT350. Of course, always appreciating any comments and thoughts on it when it goes live..  keep up the good work. Love it.

Good question as I think the trans cooler? Looks at first glance to remind some of the oil cooler on drag packs ? Yes originally AC car . This one was ordered with a 3:00/1 open rear and a trac lok was installed later on

Coralsnake and Bob Gaines thank you for your comments, sincerely, I've been amazed at this car since I was entrusted its care to get it ready.  I lost a close friend , I know I need to handle it correctly. He was happy and only 66 also a Shelby enthusiast like us . He never would have sold it. Someone will be getting a really cared for Shelby . Only two owners. I have a binder overflowing with receipts from both owners. BAT just messaged me that starting time is now tomorrow . It's good to be part of our SAAC. Community.

Coralsnake , I completely understand,it's such a nice one but I need to curb my personal feelings and humble my remarks as of course there is some much nicer and correct as Bob Gaines is pointing out . , Bob it definitely is not up to today's standards. A person like you could take it up levels without spending a bunch I think?

Thanks and welcoming any comments . Also to pick up more knowledge of the 69 Shelby, as a Hero member you have forgotten more than I know about this one. After driving and putting it up on my lift to take the dust off and do a few things , I think it's one of the finest originals around. Not done to today's concours level. More of a loved 80/90's level. I love the original mint condition interior with AC, Power steering ( none was on my 66) and the factory 8 track

This Shelby was never supposed to be sold per the dealer that ordered it for himself in 1969. One of his best fleet buyers saw it and wanted to buy it. Was turned down until the He
Offered to purchase a fleet of 15 Ford trucks if he would sell him the Shelby .the deal was made , soon after that he moved to Palmdale near Palm Springs and took it to Palm Springs car shows. My late friend Bill fell in love with it and tried to buy it for 11 years . Finally convinced the original owner to let him buy it . Miles were in the 38k range, now with only 46k miles it's still stunning. A dry desert car, no seen rust or collisions , vin stamped on the back of the block " 1542 ". Was dark jade and now Wimbledon white because hot desert sun made it cooler for the hot days there . Should be starting on bring a trailer later today.

Finally this beautiful Shelby is supposed to start on Bring-A-Trailer later today, she's only got 46k miles and even has the original 8 track tape deck . Thoughts, questions always welcomed . My late friend Bill Wilson was in Palmdale California and tried 11 years to purchase it from the original owner until finally he made it his. We met up here in Idaho about 10 years ago and it was a joy to see this will kept Shelby . It was his pride and joy.. . I'm honored to be assisting his estate .  From what I see, there's never been any collisions or rust damage, and the Vin at the back of the block matches the Vin on the chassis..

Looking for suggestions and help on listing my late friends low mile , numbers matching GT500 convertible. Pretty sure it's a 45000 mile dry desert restoration. Appreciate any ideas thanks

My 2016 Shelby GT350R Does not have tow hooks in the front or the rear and I'm getting some information that ZL one makes a good tow hook for the front, does this track require a front tow hook to run open track?
