1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: 428 Dipstick tube

Not sure if the ~1/2" shorter yours is, is what's causing the issue, as mine is a good 10" overall.  From the top of the tube to the top of the mounting tab is ~2".

Here is what they should look like.  You can see the tube doesn't go all the way so that the "ring" seats on anything.  Probably only about 5/8" of the end, ends up sticking in the block.

I have one dated 9E that has no N on the exterior but has N's on the caps.

I have not seen the N caps on any other "N" case that has come up for sale. I guess I should just add...not yet?

Doug,
Can you please post a picture of your "9E" No exterior "N", case date?  The "N" started being put on the exterior around the end of October 1968, so it would be an anomaly to not have it by May of 1969.
Thanks.

Can you please post a picture of the splines at the seal end of it, to see how far up inside they start?
Thanks,
Chris

Strange first post on the forum, as if, and almost like this was a strange and twisted way to get leads on 67 Shelbys for sale.

Strange, but perhaps true, or not.  ::)

No, I just don't have much to say Shelby-wise. I don't come over to the SAAC forum very often unless it's to research something on '67s. Plus like I said my Shelby is at the end of a long line of projects awaiting my attention. Too little time, too many cars, and not enough space!

Didn't realize I never posted here before. I'm a long-time owner of 1855 by the way. My name is listed in print in the 2011 Registry. You'll normally find me yacking over at the BOSS 302 website and also under the same screen name, Clifford. Lately I've been working on my 1970 BOSS vintage race car.

I thought the call asking if my Shelby was for sale was worth sharing with other fellow 1967 GT500 owners. If your GT500 Shelby VIN is higher than 1855 then there's a good chance you'll probably be getting a phone call sometime too assuming Chad started low and is going up the list. Plus if he called me some of you other guys probably got call too and could shed some light on who he is.

Yes we do...the Big Red Dog!!

Chad Strewer and another guy named Brett(seemed to be working together) called my father about his the other day.  Completely out of the blue.   Brett passed it on to Chad.

If it's an original Ford setup, It will part out for around $1000-$1100 fairly easy.
Original 3.91 gear if real good $200
Daytona yoke $150
Daytona pinion support $125
31 spline posi (would need rebuilt) $200
Nodular case  $350-$400
Original axle tag $40
I've had way better luck over the last several years, unfortunately, selling them in pieces as much as i hated splitting up original center sections.

I'm going to add that these prices are a realistic, retail price and condition of the parts can drastically lower them.  Heavily rusted/pitted cases, worn ring and pinion, broken traction loc hat, which is real common on those of that vintage, makes it cheaper to buy a new t-loc unit.

I have this set of calipers, rotors and hoses off of a '65 GT coupe, original owner car, pretty late '65 build. He didn't want any of the original parts, so rather than turn them in for cores I kept them.

Right caliper below dated 174-5.
