I had a 613 last month but restored and sold it.

Only 3259-1s currently on hand are later 68-69 otc stuff.
Darn original gear doesn't last long in the shop.

I agree flipping them around "shouldn't" change air cleaner requirements, but I can say I never tried, so was worth an ask.

For a street car, I like progressive and carbs backwards.

The 3x2 sbf setup I have certainly does have the air cleaner moved forward pretty far. I'll have to test fit it and an FE air cleaner when I get home.

One question, it appears there is distributor clearance to run the carburetors forward facing.
If that was done, would the FE air cleaner base fit?

I am somewhat ignorant on sbf multicarb setups, but was under the impression the carbs were forward facing.

Eh, venturi to throttle bore relations truly help with even, clean fuel draw.
Running a 3300 vs a 3259 is a different animal. Not to mention there are several distinct 3259s that act waaay differently. Sadly the list 4118 and later 3259 reproductions mimic the calibration of what I consider to be the worst and most unusable 3259 variant.
3300/3301 also have a different booster, booster pin and notches make a difference.
If you like the 715s for 2x4, you'd love the 652s. They are pretty neat, probably why they saw so much use as factory race gear.

I understand intake differences, I often make small adjustments depending on what the carb is being bolted to.

Two reasons your single 715 experience is weak.
You are running a particular variant. If it lacks the proper idle feed your a/f ratio goes rich/lean/really really rich/ lean again.
Carb lacks vac secondary amplifier and doesn't open secondaries fully. The longer vs diaphragm causes that to happen as well. Cracking the secondaries and them not opening often gives a super dead feeling. Anyway, could ramble about this forever.

715 is a great size in a Holley due to venturi/throttle bore relationship.
For a driver, I'm more of a fan of the 3x2 setup, but for all out power, it is hard to beat 2x4.
If you want a hybrid, building two 1848s is a worthy venture.

Oh and regarding the float issue, remember the carbs are backwards and probably not level. Most backwards 2x4s run way better with the secondaries a hair lower than normal. (Yes the float level can richen the a/f ratio even at idle)

Ok. Now that I know which ones, I'll check my calibration info and notes when I get back to the shop friday, but they take the same blocks, if I remember airbleeds are the same (will check). Might just be a different airbleed or something external like a dashpot... I suspect you could use either without any insurmountable issue.

I'm not 100% of which ones you are talking about.... But honestly, there is very little if any difference.
With some it is a tony difference, like .01 in a bleed to make a slightly richer idle for an auto.

Small holes take smaller gasket.

Honestly?  You can use any successfully.

I can say that 63.5 Galaxies are fantastic to drive.
I've often considered putting a stock engine in mine and daily driving it.
They really and truly and so comfortable.

You can envision a TEU, 20x8x8....  But no normal person can visualize 9,000,000 of them. That is what LA does in just one port.

I was in NYC Dec 2019 before the pandemic. I remember wondering where all the ships were. It was a ghost town. That is when I realized Covid was a big deal in China....  I mean these dudes don't fret 100k deaths. So it must have been really bad, way worse than claimed. I told my wife to stock up on stuff due to this.
The ripple will be felt for years really.  Anyone who says it'll be back 100% within a year is a serious optimist.
This is all physical stuff.  When a product is made in China, there are easily 80 hands on it before it hits your local store. We should be thrilled the bottleneck is just some trucks on our end.

I assume they mean TEU and not actual containers.
I mean, realistically for Los Angeles, that is probably 14-21 days behind.

This year has been a record for shipping. A port can only handle what it can handle. Might take awhile to get caught up.
Our supply chain is fragile in so much as it is designed for a specific load, not a ton of excess is factored in.
This is why I've worked so often at ports, every few years there are expansions, etc.  It isn't like there are gantry cranes and 10,000 extra trucks just sitting around.
It'll get back to "usa normal" before too long, just be patient.
Might be hard for some of you....  If you've never lived outside the USA it might be easy to have gotten spoiled by the supply chain.
I dunno 🤷‍♂️ I'm kinda used to living in places where you can only buy one bag of lettuce, or are only allowed 4 eggs a day. Of course in most of these places, the liquor stores are fully stocked 😂😂😂

And yeah, any boat with Ais has a dot.
Also of note, it looks super heavy on the coast because of two reasons:
1. Most traffic is coastwise
2. Boat like mine only ping the system when in vhf range. So the dot is still coastwise when we are 1,000 miles away.


Please understand a system before commenting on it.


For instance, my boat is still showing it is off the Canary Islands (it is not, we haven't been there in three months).
