If removing and replacing a cup plug is sophisticated or advanced, we might need to hide your drill bits from you 😂

21 years married, happily so.
If I person wanted a divorce, I would think you'd be the guy to talk to 😀

The huge cargo ships that come into port here often spend days, weeks or longer waiting for their turn at the docks. They idle 24/7 to generate power to keep everything running as the crew stays onboard.

They burn the dirtiest fuel possible; bunker fuel. The left over garbage from refining.

The port has been trying to install a natural gas generation plant to power those ships and reduce the pollution by 90%.

The extremists are fighting it tooth and nail. They insist it be wind or solar or nothing at all. The technology doesn't exist to provide that type of on/off power draw so what are we going to get until it does exist? Dirty bunker fuel pollution.

>:(

Not that I know anything about the Maritime world....  you are incorrect. Ships switch from Bunker to MDO long before they hit port.

Dock space costs a fortune and most ships hang out in anchorages offshore. They typically are at the dock only long enough to offload/load.
Anyway, hotel loads draw almost no current, most real ships have a much smaller aux genset for such things.

While at the dock, it wouldn't be too difficult to run the ships on shore power. (You already have power for the Gantry cranes)

Ehh.... so I read the article.

This is emotion politics on both sides. No different than the whole gun/abortion/whatever issue. It's a political ploy both sides use to energize people.
Best ignored.

Yes they can be cleaned ultrasonically, but it's impossible to see or visually inspect.

I wouldn't consider even a rebuild without cleaning the idle feed by removing the cup plug.
I buy them by the 1,000@$.016 each so not worth leaving them.

Lol, and .028 to .035 seems like a small change until you do the math and figure the area 😀

I think perhaps you misunderstood some of what I said... or perhaps I described it badly.

3259's  do not have an idle emulsion tube. Never did, nor do any other 4150 performance carbs.
The mainwell has a tube, but best to leave it alone for the layman.

I was showing you the idle feed restriction which is under the cup plug inside the idle well. Important to clean those.

You'll find the difference is negligible....
Specific gravity of .748 vs .756 etc. the range from E0 to E10 is well within the range of gasoline variability.

Fuel pressure variation and needle/seat diameters have a much greater impact.

I dunno. I just eyeball them and adjust as needed.

Appears new vs old floats are same size and construction despite being a different color.

For what it's worth, I'm not a shelby expert... just a holley nerd. I'm sure a separate post on this SAAC forum would yield you more accurate answers regarding what was on your car.

Yup the float can hit the bowl. Just set it lower.
When manually working the float you can feel if it hits the bowl or the needle and seat
(One feels spongy, one clunks)

I'm here too 😃
Sadly I'm gone this winter, will be back in Feb.
I'd be happy to help, but obviously that might not work with your schedule.

Either way, sounds like a fun project, good luck!

By richening idle or raising float, you are really closing the gap in circuits.

Generally speaking, an engine gets leaner as the idle circuit tapers off. A well designed carb sizes the bleeds to run into the mains a little bit.
By having proper bleeds (or raising float level) you bring the boosters online sooner.
By richening idle you just provide a little more fuel at the top end.
Same with using a smaller HSAB or raising float....

Simple machines need simple adjustments.

I've never had one of the 3259 replicas, so I dunno how they are set up.

I've never needed to use a 50cc pump on anything that didn't already come with one.
Seems like the issue is you are on the idle circuit, punch it, and have a lean spot before the mains come online.
To close the gap, you can use a slightly smaller high speed bleed, even raising float level.
1/16 of an inch will make the booster flow sooner

I suggested what I did because it is free 😂

Could it be the secondaries flopping open?  Maybe, but generally speaking 715's are slow to open.
Original 3259 used the short vs diaphragm and an 8.5 PV, but again, that requires more effort. Plus I doubt the boosters are flowing at 30mph.
Last two things that can make a bog are jacked up mechanical advance and a really tight converter.

Anyway, just tossing out ideas

Raise float level a fuzz, turn mix screws out 1/8 turn.
