Back in 1978 I bought a new K5 Blazer and had it Ziebarted immediately because Blazers were notorious rust buckets. After about 6 years, the only rust was on the bumpers, even though they were coated on the backsides, and the metal part of the roof(!). It seems Chevy painted that with a new material that wasn't supposed to require primer. Hah! GM did cover the repainting, but I've never looked at buying another GM product since.

What's with the braided lines tapped into the carb spacers?

FYI, NJ is still full service by law. It is illegal to pump your own gas in the Garden State. I don't mind, I've been doused by enough carcinogenic chemicals already.

"Used Cars" was one of the funniest movies ever. Especially if you were in the car business.

If that is a BRE Datsun, it's a very early one. They used to have lots of spoilers and flares and dramatic red, white and blue paint jobs, if I recall. It does have a BRE decal on the rear quarter, though, but maybe that is just from buying parts like I did ;D

Back in the mid '70's I lived in Missouri and travelled the state for a large pharmaceutical company. One day, while heading west on I-70 towards Kansas City, I saw a 289 Cobra on a trailer heading the same way.. I followed it for several miles until the pickup and trailer pulled off at an exit and the occupants went into a Holiday Inn for lunch. Turns out it was Mack Yates CSX 2385, which was an independent comp car, and it was headed for a local race. The occupants were Yates' crew. In those days, to come across a Cobra was an extremely rare event, and I've never forgotten it.

It looks kind of large, but the box shaped object may be the pedal box from which the brake and clutch pedals sprouted.

Just a guess, but maybe a replica. They race a lot of Kobras in Europe.
