I bit late here, but they should be the same as the rear bolt size, which is 5/8-18. Rear bolt is 2 3/4 inches long also. I would have to look at a car to see if the length on the front bolt is the same.

I would assume that you will be using a fiberglass reproduction tray as opposed to an original plastic one.

If so, I'm pretty sure that it will be rigid enough that you really do not have to worry about any support provided by wood pieces.

Here is the back of an original:

Interesting, what do people think of Pardee's explanation of why the number do not match.....

As mentioned, it's uncommon for the wrong prefix for the body style to be stamped in the engine block, but I am aware of at least one other car where this happened. On that particular car, it was not corrected. The six digit number matches the Ford VIN on the car, the 6RxxK part is there as well, the "09" was just incorrectly stamped "07".

Brant, what is the round plug next to the rubber shield for? Never have seen that before.

Good observation.

That is our own access for the inside of the rear frame rail. On restorations like this, Jeremy cleans out and treats the inside of rockers and frame rails. Hidden access holes are made to reach these areas. Any of these holes/openings are made so they are not visible once the car is put together.

Dominic,

I would recommend matching and using an actual topcoat paint color as opposed to using a primer.

As mentioned in the thread, colors will vary as to when the car was produced.

You will also find a different shade between the floors and under the front frame rails.

Here are some pictures of 6S033 restored with the matched colors and overspray as originally found on the car.

Steve,

Just replaced the 205/70 x 14 size BFG Radial TAs with the 215/70 x 14 size on my green '66. No problems at all with clearance.

While the 205s are closer to the height of the original 6.95s, I prefer the 215s. In my opinion, the original Blue Streaks were a bit too "short".

The Kelsey Goodyears that you mention are nice looking, but I don't see the advantage over the BFG Radial TAs, particularly considering the price.

Every part may have a "different story".

We are always glad to explain any differences, and try to get you the right part for your "goals" for building a particular car.

Assuming that you want to use a radial tire, you will probably want to use a 205/70 x 14.

I have been running that size on a '66 driver which I have driven over 10K in the past several years.

Honestly, I am considering going with a 215/70, but with the lowered front end on your car, you may experience some front fender interference with this size. It is about 1/2" taller than the 205/70.

Here is a picture, although keep in mind that my trunk is heavily loaded here, so the car is a bit lower in the rear in this particular image.

While Dave's link is good for finding my Blog posts about 6S033, you may catch a few more by clicking on this link where I "tagged" all of them. There are 39 total posts with lots of pictures in each post. They date back to 2010 and document the entire history and restoration of the car. As Dave mentions, be sure to click "Older Posts" at the bottom of each page as you scroll through all of the posts. Here is the link:

6S033 was an employee lease car at SA. The first person to lease the car is listed as James McLean. Jim was the general manager of SA at the time. His son, Bill, actually drove the car. After his time with the car, it was leased by another SA employee who was a painter there. His name was Ron Hile. I was fortunate to speak to both Bill and Ron over the years. Supposedly, it was also leased by someone who may have been a Ford employee who was helping in the development of the '67 Shelby.

The car was then sold to a local friend of mine who visited Southern California in the summers. He was the first retail owner. The vintage photographs someone posted earlier in the thread were taken by him the first few days after he purchased the car. In those pictures, it wears the Dana Chevrolet license plate frame and the original California tags that were received for the car when it was registered by SA. That picture of the business card is mine and was in the glove box.

It's interesting to note that the car stayed at Dana for about a year before it was sold to the first retail owner.

Here is the car today. I still own it.
