Make Shelbys Great Again!

I'll be there anyone else going?

It was so good, we are doing it again!  Yes, our spring event is happening at the Hickory Aviation Museum once again, but we are hopping to add a few changes and surprises this time.  I would suggest that anyone in the area that can come, does come to see the event.  The museum is awesome, and parking classic Ford/Shelby iron/fiberglas amongst the aircraft is pretty darn unique.

We are going to be adding a swap meet/parts for sale section for anyone who has the odd the part they want to sell and thinks one of our fellow members will benefit from it.  Please reach out to me with questions.

Lastly, there will be an indoor display of Shelby/Ford Memorabilia that is not to be missed.  If anyone has anything they would like to display, also reach out to me.  An email blast is soon to follow, so start waxing those Shelbys and get ready for a great time!

Parts For Sale / Freshly Rebuilt 289 HIPO Engine Dated 6K17 For Sale
« on: February 26, 2023, 11:27:02 PM »
I have a freshly rebuilt (zero hours) 289 HIPO engine for sale.   It was completely overhauled by John Callis, who has an excellent reputation as a top Ford classic engine builder.  He took over a hundred photos during the rebuild process.  It has a casting date of 6K17, and the heads are dated 6K27.  It is stamped 7F07K2752, but it's extremely faint and can only be seen when the paint is stripped off the engine block.

It has a brand new Holman Moody 289 HIPO factory spec Camshaft and Lifters installed.  The cylinders are .020 over.

It has a restored HIPO harmonic balancer C50E dated L6.    It also comes with a restored set of exhaust manifolds C30E-9431-B and C4ZE-9430-A respectively.  I have a nice set of early service replacement 'fanged' Cobra Valve Covers that will be included.  The Cobra intake is a brand new Blue Thunder replacement, and the carburetor is not included.

More information and pictures are available.

Carolina Region SAAC / Re: Checkered Flag: John "Woody" Woodruff

Hi y'all --

I've been trying to find Woody for a couple of years and today remembered he had a GT350 so put in as part of my Google search which brought me here.  Almost wish it didn't.

Woody and I served in an Ohio Army National Guard armored cavalry regiment together before his job took him to NC.  During this time he sent the green painted GT350 back to some place in Pennsylvania to be restored using his Guard checks to pay for it.  He apparently used several gallons of engine oil when he brought the car out to Ohio from NJ and didn't risk driving it to PA for the work so it was picked up by a closed auto-carrier full of restored classic cars.

Just wanted to let you know Woody is missed outside of the Shelby world.

-- Chuck

No doubt Chuck.  I was thinking of Woody just the other day as I thought about something I wanted to share with him.  He truly loved life to the fullest. I really hope I see him again someday, only hopefully not too soon.

Is there any interest this year?  I'll help set it up, if we can get a few owners together.  Anyone who might be interested, reach out to me.

Thanks Stan, it's always a pleasure to see you and your lovely wife Peggy.  Hope you are both doing well.

Well, it's that time again.  The air is starting to get cooler, the leaves are starting to change to their beautiful hue of amber and coral and the Masonic Lodge of Pittsboro, North Carolina will be hosting it's 11th annual Car Show and Fib Fest.  This year it takes place concurrently with the Pittsboro Street fair, so you'll have two fine events to peruse.  Without a doubt, this show garners the participation of some of the most unique cars in the Triad as we have multiple award categories and the trophies trump what you would find in most local events.  If you are anywhere close by, try and stop by and say hello.

Columbus Lodge No 102, the Masonic Lodge of Pittsboro, NC will be holding it's 11th annual Columbus Lodge Day on Saturday, October 29th, 2022. (Raindate: Saturday, November 6th, 2022) This event includes a Car Show, and a Spare Rib lunch.

All makes and models are welcome, and all registered cars are eligible for very unique trophies.

Judged categories include: Best of Show, Chairman's Award, Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Best Foreign Car, Best Orphan (Non-Big 3), Best Truck, Best Paint, Best Convertible, Best Survivor, Best interior, Best Engine Bay, Best 4 Door, Best Non-Automobile, Best Masonic Owned, Best Themed and the American Graffiti Award, along with top 25 show participants.

Registration is from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, judging from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm with awards announced at 2:00 pm sharp. The donation to show your car is $25. It is free to be a spectator, and a delicious rib lunch is  only $15!

Please contact Brian at 919 265-4081 or  for more information.

***Please Note: Same as last year, this event will be held at the new location, the old Pittsboro Chevrolet (now the Alpha Center) at 697 Hillsboro Street, Pittsboro, NC.    We look forward to seeing you there! ***

Phone changed it. It should have said shipping. I do usually read before posting but my  wife was telling me to hurry up because we had to go somewhere. I do have an NOS made in Japan Cobra shirt in the sealed bag. I wonder how much that's worth?
