I was just informed that Steve Hall the founder and Executive Director of the North Carolina based Mustang Owner's Museum just recently passed away.  Steve was a good man, and did a huge amount for the Mustang/Shelby community.  He thought he had beaten his liver cancer, but I'm told it came back with a vengeance.  God rest his soul.

FYI Mustang Owner's Museum, a great place to visit if you find yourself in the Carolinas:

Here is an obituary I found about him online:

Stephen Hall Obituary Death –  Stephen Hall, the man who founded and led The Mustang Owner's Museum, has passed away, and it is with great sorrow that we share this news. Steve created this incredible organization out of his undying love for the Ford Mustang, which he considers to be the center of his being. His dedication to the Mustang community throughout his life has left an indelible legacy that will live on in perpetuity.

Steve's love for the Mustang was undying, a powerful force that propelled him to pursue his goal of opening a museum dedicated to showcasing the car's illustrious past for the benefit of future Mustang fans. He saw the Mustang as more than just a car; it represented independence, creativity, and the best of America. His vision for the museum made it a location where people of all backgrounds could come together to learn about the Mustang's fascinating history. We remember Steve as more than just a leader; he was a true enthusiast, a friend, a mentor, and a source of inspiration, all of which come to mind as we grieve.

His unwavering devotion to this legendary car has united many others who share same passion, turning The Mustang Owner's Museum into a group of kindred souls. We, the Mustang people, are united in the face of this terrible tragedy. We promise to carry on Steve's vision and maintain the museum so that future generations can benefit from its rich history, vibrant culture, and undying love. His legacy will act as a beacon, illuminating our path as we honor the unmatched history of the Mustang.

In the near future, I will be in touch with you about the plans being made to commemorate Steve's extraordinary life and pay tribute to a life well-lived. Mischelle, his wife of many years, and his entire family are profoundly touched by the outpouring of sympathy and support they have received since learning of his passing. Let us honor Stephen Hall's memory by recalling his undying devotion to and enthusiasm for the Ford Mustang. His legacy will live on, influencing future generations of fans. Although Steve is no longer with us physically, his passion and commitment to the Mustang cause are immortalized in the museum he founded, the Mustang Owner's Museum. Let Steve rest in peace. We may move on, but our memories of you will remain steadfast.

What I can say that hasn't been said the previous eleven other times?  How about every person who registers their car at the upcoming event will receive a genuine gold Rolex watch.  (Wait, I might have that wrong, I think they say 'Rolix' on the face, oh well).

But seriously folks, this Car Show/Rib Fest has grown quite nicely over the years, with the average attendance being about 80 cars, yet it isn't a circus like your local GoodGuy's event is.   It happens concurrently with the town of Pittsboro's annual street fair, so if you get bored at the show, you still have lots more to see.

This event is sponsored by Columbus Lodge no. 102, the Masonic Lodge of Pittsboro,   You know the Masons,  the same guys who are running the world, except we obviously aren't doing a very good job of it.   But seriously, I donate the awards and make sure that there are numerous opportunities for people to snag something nice to go home with.  You won't find one car wining multiple categories here, I mean what's up with that anyway?  If folks are going to put the effort into prepping their rides and coming all that way, they certainly deserve something better than a two dollar piece of plastic that looks like it came out of a Cracker Jacks Box (Does anybody still remember that sugary feast?)

I have an automotive artisan off of Etsy fabricate a handmade 'Best of Show' award utilizing an engine piston and other car parts.  It is truly one of a kind.  The other awards are hefty resin based spark plugs, pistons and gasoline pumps, and I also do something very unique for the 'Top 20' winners.  Another fellow off Etsy makes beautiful bottle openers out of used spark plus, which we mount to wooden bases, that way they might actually find a use for it besides just collecting dust on the shelf.

This is all probably more information than you wanted to know, but please tell everyone you can in the Carolina area to please come out on Saturday, October 28th for a good cause.  I'll be the one in the Shelby sweatshirt.

So for the record, here are the details:

Columbus Lodge No 102, the Masonic Lodge of Pittsboro, will be holding it's 12th annual Columbus Lodge Day, Car Show and Rib Fest on Saturday, October 28th, 2023.  (The rain date is Saturday, November 4th, 2023.).  All makes and models are welcome, and all registered cars are eligible for very unique trophies.

The judged categories include: Best of Show, Master's Award (2nd Place), Chairman's Award (3rd Place), Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Best Chevrolet, Best Corvette, Best Mustang, Best Camaro, Best Truck, Best Convertible, Best Paint, Best Survivor, Best Interior, Best Engine Bay, Best 4-Door, Best Themed Vehicle, Best Foreign Car,  Best Non-Traditional, Best American Graffiti, Best Masonic Owned, Best Unique, along with top 20 show participants.

Registration is from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, judging from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with awards announced at 2:00 pm. The donation to show your car is $25. Money raised helps support the North Carolina Masonic Charities.

The delicious Rib Lunch costs $15, and is considered to be the best BBQ in Chatham County, come see for yourself!

For further information, Please contact Brian at 919 265-4081 or email: bubbletime1@gmail.com

*******Important News: We have had a last minute venue change.  The event is being held exactly one mile north at the Lowes Home Improvement Center at the corner of Hwy 64 and Route 15/501.  Much more room and a much nicer location! ******************

Hi Brian,
I did not see you yesterday. Were you there. It was a good turnout.

Michael Briggs

No Michael, I never made it.  I had transportation issues and had to turn back after about 5 miles from my house that morning.  I had sorted through all my Ford/Shelby parts the week before an had packed up an SUV's worth, so it particularly sucked to find I had a screw in my tire's sidewall and it wouldn't hold air.  I'm really disappointed that I didn't get to see everyone but I heard from numerous people how great it turned out.  Thanks as always to Bill Baker for setting all this up and everyone else who had a part in it.  I guess I'll be posting a lot of this stuff here on the forum since I cleaned out my attic and really don't want to put all that stuff back, lol.

Just a reminder:  This Saturday coming up (May 20th, 2023) SAAC Carolinas will be holding the famous Snakes and Planes Car Show at the Hickory Aviation Museum.  The  museum is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and we'd like to get as many cars in and parked amongst the planes as early as possible, so plan to be there between 9:00-9:30am.  There are plenty of trailer parking spaces located in the airport parking lot for those who may need them.

If you have any questions, please just reach out to me.  Hope to see you next week!

Make Shelbys Great Again!
#43
I'll be there anyone else going?

It was so good, we are doing it again!  Yes, our spring event is happening at the Hickory Aviation Museum once again, but we are hopping to add a few changes and surprises this time.  I would suggest that anyone in the area that can come, does come to see the event.  The museum is awesome, and parking classic Ford/Shelby iron/fiberglas amongst the aircraft is pretty darn unique.

We are going to be adding a swap meet/parts for sale section for anyone who has the odd the part they want to sell and thinks one of our fellow members will benefit from it.  Please reach out to me with questions.

Lastly, there will be an indoor display of Shelby/Ford Memorabilia that is not to be missed.  If anyone has anything they would like to display, also reach out to me.  An email blast is soon to follow, so start waxing those Shelbys and get ready for a great time!

I have a freshly rebuilt (zero hours) 289 HIPO engine for sale.   It was completely overhauled by John Callis, who has an excellent reputation as a top Ford classic engine builder.  He took over a hundred photos during the rebuild process.  It has a casting date of 6K17, and the heads are dated 6K27.  It is stamped 7F07K2752, but it's extremely faint and can only be seen when the paint is stripped off the engine block.

It has a brand new Holman Moody 289 HIPO factory spec Camshaft and Lifters installed.  The cylinders are .020 over.

It has a restored HIPO harmonic balancer C50E dated L6.    It also comes with a restored set of exhaust manifolds C30E-9431-B and C4ZE-9430-A respectively.  I have a nice set of early service replacement 'fanged' Cobra Valve Covers that will be included.  The Cobra intake is a brand new Blue Thunder replacement, and the carburetor is not included.

More information and pictures are available.
