SAAC is getting ready to publish the long-awaited updated 1969 – 1970 Registry.

As you know, SAAC's Registry is known throughout the world as the definitive authority on the cars from Shelby American from 1962 – 1970. But our 1969 – 1970 Registry is only as good as the information which you provide.
So what does this mean for you? If you have a 1969 or 1970 GT350 or GT500, it is time to make sure that the registrar has the most up-to-date information on your car. The place to update your information is:

The 1969 – 1970 registrar is Vincent Liska, and his contact information is:
VINCENT LISKA
128 KIMBALL ST
ISELIN, NJ 08830
PHONE: 732-634-1044
E-MAIL: vinman@infionline.net

We have set up a website for you to send us pictures of your car for use in the Registry. That website is:

The passcode is SAAC2022
The form requires all boxes to be filled out before you can upload an image. We want only the LAST 4 DIGITS of your VIN.
You may upload a maximum of 4 images. If, in the process of uploading an image, you decide you do not like it, you may delete it and upload another one in its place.
You will not be creating an account on this web site, so you cannot go back and modify your information.

What do we expect for pictures?
•   They have to be in sharp focus. Blurry pictures won't get used. With today's digital cameras and iPhones you almost have to try to take a bad picture. If you have an iPhone, try the Portrait mode when taking the picture. That will put the car in sharp focus and subtly blur the background.
•   Hood closed. We know your car has an engine. There's no need to prove it. Shelby Mustangs have beautiful lines. Why ruin them with an open hood?
•   Distracting backgrounds. When you look through the viewfinder all you see is your car. We get it – you love that car. But look at what else is in the picture behind the car: a mail box, a telephone pole, garbage cans, other cars, laundry hanging on a clothesline.
•   Shoot the whole car. Standing too close can chop off the front or rear fender. Don't be afraid to take a few steps back. We can enlarge the image. Stand too close and you may cut out part of the car.
•   Be aware of where the sun is. If it's overhead it can wash out the car's color or reflect off of the windshield. Professional photographers shoot in early morning or late afternoon sun. It is the softest. Mid-day sun is harsh. Try to park the car so the sun is behind you.
•   A little elevation never hurts. Standing on a box, stepladder or the bed of a pick-up will provide a nice angle and will eliminate a lot of unnecessary background clutter.
•   Resist the urge to be in the picture. We want to see your car – not you and your family. Save that for your Christmas card.

Now, go out there and take some pictures

Shelby American Automotive Club is proud to announce Hagerty as the official driving partner for SAAC National Convention.

These days feel uncertain, for everyone. Our friends at Hagerty know there's plenty of road ahead though and they look forward to supporting club events later this year.

Hagerty will be a supporting sponsor of SAAC and the annual convention for the next three-years. Whether you own one Shelby or a collection of cars, they'll create an insurance policy to fit your needs.
Plus, Hagerty has a great newsletter, awesome videos, content, and engaging forums to keep you entertained while spending more time at home.

"SAAC is very fortunate to have Hagerty as a partner supporting wheels in motion events. We have seen incredible growth and excitement surrounding our SAAC Convention and touring events. With Hagerty fully on board, we anticipate great things ahead for all SAAC members, and we will be welcoming Hagerty Drivers Club members to join our events", said Jim Dolan, SAAC Board of Directors.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Checkered Flag: Bill Neale
February 01, 2021, 01:07:18 PM
Our community lost another one to the ages ...Bill Neale passed away at he age of 95

Gray beards know him well... new folks may sure recognize his artwork and may have not known his name.

Our friends at Shelby American posted a nice article on Bill... I thought I would reproduce it here....

Everyone at Shelby is celebrating the life of Texan Bill Neale who passed away at the age of 95.
A founding member the "Terlingua Rat Pack," alongside Carroll Shelby, Bill was one of the most beloved individuals in our community.
Inspired by an uncle who was a fighter pilot in the Flying Tigers, he became a Navy flyer in WWII.
Bill flew in combat over the Pacific and witnessed the signing of surrender documents in Tokyo bay.

Bill was a successful businessman, leading advertising programs for high profile clients.
A founding member of the prestigious Automotive Fine Arts Society, he was an internationally acclaimed automotive artist.
His artwork has been the centerpiece of many collections, appearing on everything from racing and event posters to corporate promotional pieces.
Bill was adored by both the everyman and celebrities ranging from Phil Hill and Dan Gurney to Jim Hall and Peter Brock.
A close ally of Carroll Shelby for decades, Bill was with him at Le Mans in '59 and told stories of Carroll at the 2012 Petersen Tribute.

Bill helped Shelby establish the legendary Terlingua Chili Cookoffs and most famously, designed the Terlingua Racing Team livery.
The "Gawdawful Yellow" and "Rabbit" crest was found on championship racecars driven by Jerry Titus, as well as a limited-edition series of Terlingua Cobras and Shelby cars.
Carroll asked him to create logos for the Carroll Shelby Foundation, which are still used by the charity today.

There are far too many aspects of the man to fairly summarize. He loved jazz, dogs and sports of all types, especially motorsports.
Bill owned and raced many performance cars, enjoyed road trips, was a veteran chili cookoff judge, and most of all, loved his wife and kids.
Bill was the consummate storyteller with a great sense of humor; he often declared that his biggest disappointment in life was never meeting a moose.
Bill was a quiet champion of the overlooked.
He tirelessly nurtured young people to reach their potential, whether it be with a paintbrush or in a business meeting.
It is impossible to estimate the number of individuals whom he helped become a success.

Those who were not fortunate enough to know the Texan will most likely remember him for his artwork and friendship with Shelby.
Those who did, know that he made the world a much, much better place.

He came from humble roots and crafted a life worth living. His legacy will live on through his art, the cars he was involved in and most of all, those he touched.
Each time you hear the rumble of a performance car or see a Shelby Terlingua car at speed, smile and think of Bill Neale. We will.

You can learn a bit more about the life of this incredible man at https://bit.ly/3ji8PUl

Someone has created a fake profile for Chuck Cantwell on Facebook.

They are bulk-sending Friend requests to many enthusiasts

Ignore any requests from that "Chuck" account...its a fishing expedition.

Open Track at Pocono - with the Team Shelby East Coast Nationals...

Yes, there will be an Open Track opportunity in July. Asking all members in the area to show up, support our friends at Team Shelby and represent SAAC on the track and in the show field

This year's event will start at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA. They will be driving the North Course, which incorporates both the infield AND turn 3 of the tri-oval.
There will be multiple run classes broken down by skill level.
To ensure a professional track operation, they have joined with Hooked on Driving Northeast, who will be managing the track event.

The overriding theme of this years event will be "Ford v Ferrari", and as such, there may be some surprise competition at the track.
If things work out, there may even be a few vintage Fords and Ferraris to recreate some of the competition from back in the mid 1960's.
If not tracking your car, but still attending the track, they are planning a car show in the infield, where again the finest Fords will go nose to nose with the most fabulous Ferraris.

Gary Patterson and Tracey Smith from Team Shelby have thrown down a challenge! They want YOU to take some laps in your car at the world famous Pocono Raceway during this event. It's the opportunity to experience your car the way it was intended, safely at speed.

And to back up their challenge, they will give the next 20 people who sign up for the track a $50 gift card to Carroll Shelby's Store! But you must register within the next 72 hours to get this incredible offer from the President of Shelby American and the International Director of Team Shelby.

So head "back to the track" and sign up today at

News from HQ / So... what do we call it next year?
July 02, 2020, 12:43:24 AM
Saw an interesting question on the Forum the other day.... let's expand it and have some fun.

Since SAAC-45, the 2020 National Convention, fell to Covid-19...

What do we call the 2021 National Convention?

  • SAAC-46, since SAAC-45 goes in the books as "Cancelled"
  • SAAC-45, with 2020 as a "null year"
  • SAAC-45A
  • SAAC-45.1
  • SAAC-2021, and change the whole sequence system
...or....your suggestion?   8)

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Call for Authors
June 13, 2020, 11:22:32 AM

We'd like to raise our Member Newsletter to a new level by including a short article or two in each eBlast, rather than just the "news of the day."

These would be casual, short stories of general interest with a few photos, if necessary.

By short, I mean no more than a printed page.
By casual, I mean just relax and tell your story.. no need to be Shakespeare.

We will edit for grammar and spelling :-)

For example, tell us about your car, your project, a recent cruise, an event experienced, a step in your restoration, a tech tip... anything related to our mutual interests.

Submit by email to: pitcrew@saac.com  Set the Subject Line to "Newsletter Content"

Now, don't forget.... our more ambitious authors should CONTINUE to submit articles for the Shelby American Quarterly Magazine...
...In case you haven't noticed the nice number of articles in each issue that were member-submitted.

PLEASE...
continue to submit these full articles to our Editor-in-Chief at saac@saac.com
