Wanted to Buy / PARTS WANTED FOR UNRESTORED 1967 GT500
November 06, 2020, 01:10:33 PM
Hey Guys!

I currently have an original paint 67 GT500 which needs a few things to "finish her off". Every car must leave here better than when it showed up so I would like to (and, for many things, have already) change the "serviced" parts on the car back to original pieces!  List below...would prefer used condition original parts if possible!

-"late" style 1 piece exhaust tips...need two, have already fitted the car back with original resonators and muffler thanks to the always helpful, devilishly handsome, and world-famous Bob Gaines  ;D
-Goodyear "Small Letter" Speedway 350 for spare. Would prefer a tire with a nice, display-able sidewall. Does not need to have perfect tread, just need something to wrap around the cars original spare steel wheel and sit atop its original trunk mat...

Please shoot me an email if you have any of these things! Thanks for looking!

Hey Guys!

I guess I have nobody to blame but myself for not promoting the listings till the day that they are supposed to end...but the items at the link below are ending tonight. All of the listings have no reserve and most all of them are currently bid to levels which wouldn't cover the shipping! Some amazing items selling and probably a good chance to get some deals tonight! A few examples in particular are listed below! Thanks for taking a peek of the items on offer.

Hey Guys,

Since we knocked the emblem out..figured I'd try this one...

I need an original spare Speedway 350 for an original paint/survivor type 67 GT500. The car is a late production car.

The better condition the better the price I'd pay...but the tire certainly doesnt have to be perfect!  The car has its original ultra rare trunk mat so it should have an original spare back in it!

Kind regards,
Vern

THE MEMORABILIA

The Atzbach Collection features what is likely one of the most extensive collections of Shelby American, as well as Lamborghini, memorabilia in private hands anywhere in the world.

The collection will be sold at NO RESERVE in two different venues.  These venues include LIVE items as well as OnTime items.

LIVE Auctions
There will be, roughly, 1,200 lots sold over the course of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday live on the "Road Art" auction stage at Indianapolis. These items are, in general, the most important items of the sale. In addition to bidding in person, interested parties can also bid by phone or internet bid. Links to these auctions broken down by their run day are below:

Thursday: https://www.mecum.com/auctions/indy-roadart-2020/lots/roadart/07/16/
Friday: https://www.mecum.com/auctions/indy-roadart-2020/lots/roadart/07/17/feature/P/
Saturday: https://www.mecum.com/auctions/indy-roadart-2020/lots/roadart/07/18/

"On Time"  Auctions
The second way memorabilia lots will be sold is through Mecum's online bidding platform. This platform is called "On Time". There will be a total of nearly 2,800 lots sold using the "On Time" format and those items are divided into 22 different themed auctions.

A link to the themed "On Time" auctions can be found here: https://ontime.mecum.com/

Bidding is set to open on these items starting tomorrow, July 1 and these themed auctions end on various days of the live auction. A full schedule is visible at the link posted above.

TO REGISTER TO BID

Please note: If you are planning to register to bid on Live Memorabilia lots, a separate registration is necessary for OnTime bidding as well.

Links below!

Cars: https://www.mecum.com/collector-cars/register-to-bid/

Live Memorabilia: https://www.mecum.com/roadart/register-to-bid/

OnTime Memorabilia: https://ontime.mecum.com/register/

Thanks so much to all who have asked questions so far and I'm happy to personally answer any additional questions you might have about the sale. Preparing this collection to cross the block has been a monumental task and I think the Shelby hobby is in for quite a show when all these lots go "under the gavel" in Indy in just a few weeks time!

Kind regards,
Vern

The Lounge / Checkered Flag: Tony Branda
August 14, 2019, 03:22:32 PM
Hey Guys,

I just learned from a Facebook post from Tony Jr that Tony Branda has passed earlier today.

Tough to sum up Tony's importance to the Shelby world at large. It goes without saying that he had an absolutely massive influence on the hobby and he will be missed by all.

Here's to Tony and his family is surely in all our thoughts and prayers.

Hey Guys,

Listing this for a friend here locally who has this original sunburst for sale! He is asking $1,500 for the wheel and his email is below along with his description of the wheel! Please reach out to him direct via email if you have any questions or if you are interested in the wheel! For what it is worth, the owner is a an extremely talented machinist and craftsman here locally...you can rest assured any repair has been well done.

Description: "I have an original 427 Cobra Sunburst wheel that I have no need for. It was 1 of 4 which originally came on Harry's Cobra. Tire shop cracked the rim when removing original tires and I ended up with wheel. I rewelded it at my shop and refinished on one of our lathes. Repair is virtually undetectable on outer edge of rim. Hey guys,

Have a client down there considering a few cars if anyone can lend a knowledgeable eye.

I was down there last weekend but neither of these two cars were checked into the auction yet so would be helpful if someone who knows what they are looking at could give them the "once over".

Please PM me with your contact info if you could help. Compensation for your time.

Hey Guys,

Got 4 original Shelby related showroom postcards available for sale!

1) 1965-66 Shelby 427 Cobra Postcard- this postcard was printed in 65-66 to advertise for the big bad 427. I only have one of these. As close to mint as possible on the front of the postcard..the back has a light scuff mark from being stacked with original postcard in a dealer's inventory back in the 60s!
This postcard is the top left example seen in the group photo.

Price: $50 shipped to you

2)  1966-67 Shelby "427"/428 Cobra Postcard- this postcard was printed in 66-67 to advertise for the big bad 427....except the postcard included a disclosure on the back which stated that the car actually came with a 428! These were the csx3200 serial number range cars.  This postcard is in absolutely MINT/NOS condition. The condition is so good that you will have trouble believing that an item like this could possibly be this nice after 50 years of existence.
This postcard is the top right example seen in the group photo.

Price: $45 shipped to you

3)  67 Shelby GT350/500 Postcard- this postcard was printed in 67 to advertise the new 1967 GT350/500 Road Cars! This postcard is original and in absolutely MINT condition. Like #2, you wont believe how good it is. This postcard is obviously the one with the 67 Shelby on it.

Price: $45 shipped to you

4)  68 Shelby GT350/500 Postcard- this postcard was printed in 68 to advertise the new GT350/500 "Step Lively" Cars! This postcard is original and in absolutely MINT condition. Like #2, you wont believe how good it is. This postcard is obviously the one with the 68 Shelby on it.

Price: $20 shipped to you

Hey Guys,

Many of you might not know but every 1966 Shelby GT350 was intended to have one of these plexiglass care sheets. It basically explained how to take care of the plexi quarter windows in the 66 Shelby.

This little sheet was sort of an obscure piece and probably didn't serve much value to the original purchaser of the cars...so over time they were thrown out. Original examples have now become, easily, the most difficult item to find for the glovebox of any 66 Shelby.  I have guys ask me for an original all the time and I just outright generally respond that it is not likely that I'll ever come into another one. I had one many years ago.

To solve the problem I have recently found that someone out there (I have literally now idea who) took a high res scan of an original, changed a number of extremely small things on the front (none of which stick out to a common viewer), made copies, and then ghost printed "Copy" and "reproduction" on the back. Finally, they were printed on what appears to be original, aged paper.

Whoever this person is (again, I have no idea who he is although I heard that he is a remarkably handsome/unfathomably good looking young man) did a good job of making these and they will certainly fill the need of anyone wanting to have a "complete" 1966 owners manual packet. This item will also be suitable for D2 concours judging and it is "better than nothing" in D1. The judges would certainly appreciate seeing it...

Price: $50 per and whoever produced this item is not going to be making any more once the limited quantity runs out...

PM me or reach out at "vestes85" at gmail dot com if you would like one!

Vern

Hey Guys,

Been a while since I have hawked some things on the forums so here we go!

These Koni brochures came in the glovebox of 65 Shelbys as well as Koni equipped 66 Shelbys.  These two brochures currently offered are later printings (likely printed between 1968 and into the mid 70s) but they are identical to the "original" 1965-66 printing except for a few small details on the inside of the brochures. These brochures will get the job done for you in a concours venue as the "next best thing" to an "assembly line" brochure. In division 1, you might get by if a judge doesn't know the difference...I am betting most don't since literature is not generally paid close attention during judging...and they will certainly get those extra points in D2 which is where most cars are judged anyway!

I have two examples. One extremely nice and one extremely rough but still worth having and saving some dough. The poor condition one will still get the points it just wont look quite as handsome in doing so! These "later printings" are very rare and the real 65-66 printings are remarkably rare. Real 65-66 printings can go for multiples of the prices advertised for these brochures which are 99% correct.

To reserve a brochure, just reply to this thread with "rough sold" or "nice sold" so others can see which example is available at any given time!

Vern

Hey Guys,

Unfortunately this post makes two more of these sort of posts than anyone wants to see in a given day on the forum.

It is with a heavy heart that I wanted to let the forum members know that Michael Holmes of Racing Division Inc. passed away November 26.

Michael was a great guy. He was heavily involved here on the forum for a long time and worked directly on design projects with some of the biggest names in the hobby...Shelby American among them.  I am sure you are all more than aware of his many projects and products.....all of which were top notch in quality. Michael didn't put out or build half-a##ed stuff. That goes for his cars as well. Some of my favorite pieces of clothing are ones which he designed. Given that Michael is now gone, they are pieces that hold an even more special place in my heart than they did two days ago.

Michael had an incredible eye for design and had an astute appreciation for the design language of Peter Brock and Shelby American Inc.  He was one of those people who had real passion for what he did.

Aside from his work. Michael was a good man. He helped me when I was first launching my business. He advised on the design of my website, my logo, and a number of other items to simply because he wanted to help me get off to a good start in the business. He made me (and everyone he was involved with) look good.  More than anything I wish that I had known when I was texting him a week ago that it would be the last time.

Michael was a good one and I know that he will be sorely missed by many here on the forum as well as throughout SAAC and LASAAC.

If you feel so compelled, a GoFundMe page has been set up for Michael's family. He leaves behind a two beautiful kids who are 6 and 11. A link to that page can be seen below.
