I had a similar issue on a 1966 convertible.
Make sure that the plug in connectors at the firewall are completely engaged. if you connected them without any dielectric grease they may not be fully seated.

95% of the time I will wait for the published and mailed version. Good winter reading materials.

I concur with that assessment, I did see some service parts at swap meets that were a cheapened version.

I bought three or four in the 1980's. As I recall all of them were of the 67-68 style with the thicker and pronounced ribbing and the paired holes punched for the cowl.

To add to Jeff's reply; Bill Heeley sells a rebuild kit for the box which includes a new spring, wave washer, anterlock and retaining ring.  This will help eliminate the slop in the box itself. He lists them on Ebay all the time.

The Ranger drum mentioned above has a centering bore of 2.808 inches. 3/8" inches larger that a vintage drum. perhaps a sleeve could be swaged on the axle hub to accommodate for the difference.

The headlights and grill filler removed make for an easy installation of the race apron. In addition, the race cars had the radiator support opening for the radiator enlarged for the bigger radiators . Also on the earliest cars, the ducting for the cooling for the front brakes went through the radiator support.

Short answer...The round HiPo 14" Chrome lid and blue painted base. Check out Virginia Mustang Supply for a quality reproduction. The 67 gurus here can tell you the specifics of the painted base.

As far as driveability, I would go with the roller bearing spring perches. You will notice a positive experience. I personally feel that urethane bushings give a harsher feel over the rubber and any energy that would have been absorbed by the urethane is now transferred to the body and associated welds. If you were going to use the car for the track, then I would go with urethane components.

This is a different car. It was purchased by Mr. Rahal almost two years ago from a gentleman in Denver, CO. Previous owners include Kenny Passerelli, and Eddie O'Brien. I do not have the CSX number handy.
