Concours Talk / Ceramic Coating Exhaust Manifolds
« on: August 10, 2021, 11:02:10 AM »
I’m looking into a few options for coating my pair of 289 exhaust manifolds, spray can version I’ve read some use VHT cast iron gray, I spoke to a coating company and they would prep them and ceramic coat in cast iron gray colour, cost is more, but maybe it keeps its colour better? Any thoughts on that ?

Where about s are you Cranmer?

This is not what I expected to read about, I’m truly saddened by the news. I first met Chris at BJ when he was selling 0018 there, he was such a welcoming fellow and full of excitement. I could tell right away of his enthusiasm for these cars as and  for people even more so, I feel fortunate to have known Chris and will remind myself to live each day as he did. Our thoughts and Prayers go out to all his family.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: 66’ Brake Rotor/Hub

That’s kind of what I was thinking too, those brake shoes clearly didn’t belong too 6S1291
Maybe I should hang on to the front hubs though

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / 66’ Brake Rotor/Hub
« on: June 15, 2021, 12:14:57 PM »
Are original 66’ front hubs anything unique on a Shelby? I found a package of hubs & rotors in my stash here, that had  been changed out by the previous owner , also The rear brake linings have a wide grove running through the centre about a good 1/4” wide, is that a factory deal?

Are the 66’ Shelby rotor/hubs the same as 67’s? I have a set of 66’s and they appear to be 2 piece, would that  have been from the factory?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: GT-350 Valve Covers
« on: April 13, 2021, 02:42:56 PM »
Did you spray an adhesive to the valve cover so it stays with it, just one less piece to make the transition simpler.
Mine have never leaked from day one. The thing with a lock washer too is you might feel more proned to tighten more to get that washer to compress flat resulting in over tightening the valve cover. I don’t think I used them, an alternative would be a flat star washer if your still having issues with bolts backing off.

Is that right to have the Ford VIN in full view? I’ve never seen it, but I haven’t seen them all either.
I thought it had to be covered over with the Shelby Tag.

Hey Rod
A day to celebrate indeed, I think you may have been one of the first early 67’ owners I contacted upon purchasing 0031 in 1999, was great to meet you in person at SAAC 42 and to see your car in person for the first time too, you’ve been a good caretaker of 0036, keep up the good work and enjoy the ride!
