Not wanting to spend $4000.00 plus I opted for the Branda re pop 1967/ 66 OTC wheel for $549.00 with the horn button that works and have no complaints.
Sure a original is nice but the horn buttons are crap and you have to pry the wheel off to remove it from the car. The small differences in wood diameter don't bother me for the difference in price and 6S1802 hasn't complained about her new wheel yet.

It's going to vary car to car but whatever height you decide try to get a 1" rake back to front.

Bought 6S1802 in early '81, car was my daily driver for years. Back when I was still employed as a policeman for a progressive liberal left coast beach community I usually took one of Los Angeles areas canyon roads to work, thus avoiding the horrible 405 freeway. I would swing by and pick up another policeman who was on my shift and off we would go to work in the G.T.350. Back when I got it 1802 had a Paxton supercharged Boss 302 with Windsor heads and very loud side exhaust. Having a brass pass I wasn't concerned about a noise ticket. For those of you familiar with the Los Angeles area we were in the west San Fernando Valley and would use Topanga Canyon to get to the coast. Topanga Canyon crossed Muholland Drive and that's where the "official time" would begin. Working day shift we had to be at work pretty early which meant going thru Topanga Canyon at about 0500, that's five am to you new car twenty something people. I would really be working the G.T.350 thru the canyon over steering thru the turns and making all kinds of racket.  This lasted about two weeks. One day, exiting the canyon at Pacific Coast Highway we found the road blocked by a CHP Dodge Diplomat, a horrible police car. The CHP officer pointed at us and motioned us to the roadside. Playing dumb I had my drivers license and I.D. ready. Iv'e never heard another policeman yell as loud as this guy, he was louder than the exhaust. G****mmit we've been looking for this f***ing thing for two weeks have you any idea how many noise and speed complaints we've had, and on and on. I was a young policeman at the time so there was a lot of yes sir no sir's on my part. He said in no uncertain terms he NEVER wanted to see that g**amn car on his canyon again. I agreed and avoided a call to my watch commander. We still had to get to work, so next day we were back in a 1971 Datsun 1200 2dr 5 speed. No noise and almost the same time thru the canyon.

It's a real Hertz car 1886/1881? Can't remember the number but it was also used in War of the Worlds. Great scene when it's sliding thru the intersection.  After that film Tom Cruise bought the car for Steven Spielberg. I used to be a policeman in a left coast liberal beach community where Spielberg had a hanger at a local airport where he stored all the props he kept from his films. Picture every film this guy ever made and the special props for these films were in this hanger. This guy is the ultimate pack rat. I was at the airport one day and the Shelby was in front of the hanger, hood up, and some guy was trying to get it started. I stopped and offered to help, being the good public servant I was. The guy who took care of all of Spielberg's crap couldn't believe I knew anything about such a rare and valuable car until I told him I also owned one and offered to help him start it. After adjusting the choke It fired right up. I got a chance to look it over and it is a spot on correct car. I also fixed the headlight since one of the retaining springs had come loose. Left my business card and asked if Mr.Spielberg would be interested in displaying the car in our up coming LASAAC car show. Never heard a thing but kinda figured I wouldn't. The sad thing is last I heard the car is now just another one of his movie props and may never be seen again.

Not a late model guy, haven't cared for them since the 06 Hertz. You see them at car shows with purple lights and mechanical snakes under the hood. It's all about branding today. Keep the dead guys name alive to sell everything from cars to clothing, I'm sure there will be some brand of CS douche next.
The new cars are not raced professionally, aside from the 12/13 Boss 302 where do you hear that they have been raced?
I'll stick with my "66 GT350

That is the Los Angeles Regions one and only Steve Beck. He's owned 5S258 since 1974.
