1965 GT350/R-Model / 5s555 Head Identification
December 16, 2020, 04:13:40 PM
I recently purchased 5s555. For the past two months I have tried to obtain more specific information on the cars history, specifically finding the original motor.  The original titled owner of the car stated that the car was a former Reynolds Drag car, prior to his purchase. He stated the motor was removed and replaced with another K code motor.  The car was then sold and owned for a short period by a gentleman who is deceased, but his son stated the car was raced, as told by his father. The car was then sold to Austin Craig who stated the car had race history, as purported by the previous owner. Mr Craig, the former SAAC president furnished the next owner with a receipt for Shelby/Ford racing heads, designated by part number 6048. I found these heads in the old Shelby parts catalog, but cannot find out any specific identifications that would prove these heads are on my car. My car currently has K code heads with the two dots above the 288, screw in studs and 65 cast into them as well as 21.  The front drivers side shows two separate numbers, C1055 and 0215X.  Howard Pardee has been diligently helping me through this process. So the question remains if there is a way to identify those heads on my order form.  Thank you for any help.

Wanted to Buy / Re: 1965 Shelby Tach & steering wheel
December 07, 2020, 10:12:47 AM
The steering wheel based on old photos of the car is slotted.  I know of two cars, one a couple numbers earlier than mine, and a couple later, both are slotted.  I might be interested if I cannot locate one, but I truly want an original.  Please keep me posted, and thank you.

Thank you for the kind words. I will dig up the pictures.  I am looking at a 65 on Thursday. Not much in the registry about the car.  Non original motor and trans.  In my price range and if I am interested I will be seeking out your input.  Thank you again.

1965 GT350/R-Model / Stolen, recovered and looking again
September 07, 2020, 11:16:24 AM
Thank you for allowing me into the group.  In 1982 I was lucky enough to purchase a 1966 Shelby, first observed at the world of wheels in Chicago.  The car was purchased in race trim, full cage, flares, american racing wheels, but had its original drive train.  This was going to be my for ever car.  I was 19 and saved and borrowed to own this piece of art, that I would transform back into stock trim.  Fast forward to 1992 and I am a Police Officer, a detective none the less when I get that call.  The Pennsylvania state police and NTSB contacting me and informing me that they believed my beloved car was a stolen re-tag from 1972.  I was the third owner since the theft, and the thief had the audacity to go to the original owner and attempt to extort the current owner of the car, as he believed the statue of limitations had expired from the theft, but, the new charge of extortion was a surprise to him. I lost the car, it went back to the original owner, and my life continued.  Well almost thirty years later, two careers, five children, no divorces and I am going to be pursuing a once in a shorter lifetime car.  I look forward to this purchasing journey, looking out of the eyes of a once 19 year old.
