I just bought a 68 GT 350 that's been sitting since the 70's.

Might this spark plug wire be original.  I have a set of them.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 Spec Case Question
July 30, 2020, 08:47:40 AM
I just purchased a 1-owner 67 GT 500.  It's been sitting since 1982 and SAAC confirmed it's a one owner car.

Night mist Blue/4 Speed/Inboards.

I've had about 60-70 1967 Shelby's and this '67 is by far one of the most original untouched Shelby's I've ever owned..

However....
No spec case.
There's a rear end tag and it's dated perfectly to the vehicle.

Anyone have any knowledge of non-spec case 67 GT 500's?

Appeals / 1965 K Code Fastback Engine Question
May 03, 2020, 02:37:01 PM
I just purchased a 65 K Code Fastback

The vehicle was built August 1, 1964.

The matching number 289HP is included and the VIN is stamped near under the casting numbers and date..
...Not the usual front of the block.

Anyone have experience with a VIN in this location?

The vehicle's build date is as early as I've seen for a FB..

Thoughts?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Restoring (2) 67 GT 350's
April 18, 2020, 11:49:58 AM
I'm restoring two 67's I have.

One is a very early GT 350 (# 61)
And the other is a later 67  (#2716)

One of the end extensions has a part number and the other one doesn't

The early car has the part number...

Would all these parts originally have a number later on in the production?

Wanted to Buy / Boots for Shelby convertibles.
March 03, 2020, 03:40:01 PM
I'm sure this has been brought up before.

I have a 69 Shelby convertible and the boot won't fit.
Too small of course.
It's a reproduction.

Ideas?

Does anyone make a correct boot that actually fits on a convertible?

Thank you

The Lounge / Richard Barnes SAAC Member--Mustang Ranch
February 07, 2020, 07:44:27 AM
I received the sad news that a longtime friend and SAAC member passed away a few weeks ago
in Colorado

I had the pleasure of being involved with Rich numerous times over the purchase of Shelby's.
We traded or purchased numerous Shelby's from each other over the years.
You might remember some of the article's about Rich flying to Europe to secure an automobile
collection with 5-6 Shelby's involved.

One of the interesting Shelby's I acquired from Rich he brought back from Belgium was a
1970 GT 350 Convertible that was originally shipped to Madrid.  It's one of three Grabber Yellow's.
I also purchased 1967 #16 from him.

In the later years Rich was involved in the 05-06 GT's.
You might remember his advertisements ending in "talking is always free".

He was a real gentleman.
He was only 56.

Appeals / Any Maserati experts on the forum?
October 20, 2019, 09:16:22 AM
I looked a 66 Shelby in a barn a few days ago and the family also offered me a Maserati

They lost the title and they're unsure what year the car is.
Me too!

Any Maserati people here?

Might it be a '62?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 1967 GT 500 Barn finds......
October 13, 2019, 09:43:50 AM
I just came across (3) 67 GT 500s and none of them were in the registry.

I thought I'd share the nicest one....

It was sold in San Francisco in 1967 and I purchased it from the same owner who bought it in 1972.
Dark green/mag stars/no stripes and very original.
Very early car with inboards...

The most appealing factor is that it's rock-solid and has been in a garage for decades just south of SF.
