Numbers matching is (as stated above) a big deal when it's time to sell if that's your plan. Figure on a restored car 25% for a cj, but remember that also means you need original sheet metal, glass, a good history, and a correct restoration to go with it.

:o  Hmm . . . .  :-\ Well, but I love how the restored engine bays look. So clean and tidy. I'd like to have some new carpet. I can forego refurbishing the undercarriage, but I would like to have some new shocks.

Do a good engine detail, do the interior you will be happy. I just did that to my 70 boss 302 mustang and what a difference!

Great cars, these '69-'70 models. I think I am now inspired to fully restore my first Shelby. They look so clean. Nice cars, everyone. I like them all, especially the Grabber colors and the Silver Jade and the Gulfstream Aqua! I'd love to find one with a white interior and a white top. Umm, umm, umm.

Don't do it!!!!!!  Keep your car as it is. If you restore it you won't want to drive it, I enjoy my driver quality cars way more then the two done cars that I am afraid to drive around Los Angeles. The people that now occupy California have zero respect for anything it's like living in the third world.

Thanks for the information, I would guess that the production date are all over the place then.

Hi all, my gt500 (602) was a Shelby DSO -ordered 12/09/69 built 1/29/69 - then off to the east coast sales office and then to the Jay Dugan advertising agency. My question is how many other Shelby DSO cars are out there? and production date?

The best advise is leave the car alone, once you paint it then everything else will look awful and the can of worms is opened.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Air cleaner seal

You can use an olds 442 ram air seal but you have to cut it to size , it's larger and thicker but the same type foam and color.

The Lounge / What has happened to Shelby prices?
June 23, 2018, 08:23:44 PM
I have been watching the auction on and off for years and I have seen the gradual decline of Shelby prices, now I am keeping my shelby's so for me it's a moot point, but I am still shocked to see how down Shelby prices are. I just watched a 67 GT500 sell for 82k at barrett, I about fell out of my chair!

Is it over saturation ? just too many new Shelby's ? or ?

Interesting question..

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Shoulder Harness

I own 602 and it's a (DSO) Shelby marketing car and sent to the J. Dugan advertising agency by SA. It was ordered 12/09/68 and delivered 01/29/69 and if memory serves me right Shelby was working with the 69 prototypes late in September of 68; so very short the lead time to production, done on the fly to get the cars out.

So just looking at this time line tells me that doing things in a rush was the way things were done and the "pipeline" must have been very short :D

P.S. just finished a three year restoration on 602 which took it's first trip to super car Sunday in Woodland hills today!
