I am going to get a repop valve fedexed to change this out tomorrow and revisit another rebuild on the original valve in the future.

So we are already with GT350 #1341 for our 1st big show this Sat the 3rd and we are having problems with the rear brakes.

The entire system is new
Dewy restored booster
Dead nuts master cylinder
Calipers restored by Shelby Parts & Resto
New distribution block
All new lines
NPD wheel cyl.  https://www.npdlink.com/product/wheel-cylinder-brake/139832?backurl=search%2Fproducts%3Fsearch_terms%3DT-2262-2%26top_parent%3D0%26year%3D
All new drum hardware
And we do have an original proportionig valve that was rebuilt.

Tonight I adjusted the rear drums, they would spin freely and lock when brake applied with car off.
I did this becuase after a short drive on sunday the rear wheels got pretty hot to touch.  So I revisited readjusting brakes tonight.
We went for about a 2 mile drive.  Initlally brakes felt good and we could coast nicley down a slight hill and car was driving really well.
Towards the end of the drive we got out to switch drivers and checked temps of wheels. The rear drums were warm, nothing you couldnt keep your hand on.  So we started to go down street again and coasted again and we could tell rear brakes were binding. Turned aound went back up street to our garage and as approaching garage we had some rear brake squeel.  Into garage, car off, up on jack and I could not turn wheels by hand.

I was able to back off the adjusters to free up wheels, however when doing that the emegency brake would not lock the right rear.

If the proportioning valve was not rebuild correctly could this be the result?

Prior to the adjusting I pulled drums and all looked good inside primary and secondary shoes correctly installed along w springs, equalizer bar and emergency brake components.

Today's agenda was applying GOODYEAR letters to the sidewalls of the AVONs.

Yesterday I removed the Avon logos from the sidewalls with a dremel and maroon (320) and grey (600) scotchbrite wheels from amazon.  This took a while and was messy, definately do this outside.
I also used scotchbrite pads to blend the sidwall areas I was working on.  To clean up I wiped sidewalls down with brake cleaner.

Today I applied the goodyear white letters that I had made by tirestickers.com.  I took a rubbing off an old polyglass tire we have that had 3/4" letters.

I cleaned the entire sidewall thoroughly with acetone.  This also improved the blending around the perimeter of the sidewall of the worked and non worked sections.

Next was to layout the position of the goodyear letters and then bond on with tirestickers.com supplied adhesive.

I followed tirestickers instructions and all went well.

+1 .It looks great . Lose what appears to be a red dote on the Z bar . The equalizer bars were typically marked with a paint slash. Color marking for BB and SB are can be found in the notes of the chassis assembly manual.

Bob here is one of my prior posts on the Z bar that was in this shelby.  the red daub was on there, so I recreated it after plating.

LOOKS GOOD - NICE WORK.

One comment (other than the Koni shocks) the negative battery cable (if you have enough - some of the Marti Repro's are too short) should route between the battery and the inner fender and then in front of the battery behind the radiator core support to the terminal.

Nice Work!

Yes the Konis....  We choose to use these as they were installed on this shelby in the late 70s (winged decal konis) when Brett Dommer owned the car and Curt Vogt was his house mate.  Good chance Curt was wrenching on this shelby back then.

thanks for info on the cable routing.  I will check this today to see if we have the length needed.

..and more...
Is a restoration ever complete?  Actually it adds to the enjoyment of the hobby, research, find parts, develop resto methods., etc...

That is spare masked off with pinstriping to correct color from black to cast blast gray finish.  Intend to do this on the four other rims, not sure if I will get to this for this show.

1st show this next weekend for #1341 at the Greenwich CT Concours show.  Sat is the Concours de Sport, cars of Limerock, Porsche, Vettes, other Muscle cars.  We are in the  Carroll Shelby Centenium catergory.  Been working details all weekend.  Had  hardware on inners to change out and some other places.  Needed rivets in grill. Blacked out scoops, changed fuel filter, added dolly marks, decals, etc. Adjust brakes, adjust steering, a little more to go today and tomorrow.
