Cars For Sale / Re: 67 GT500

This does show as a beautiful Shelby, however at that price more details/components should be concours correct. Don't get me wrong there is attention to detail on this restoration, some body color overspray, some pinch weld blackout(as bob noted should be more)...etc...., but again negotiate that price.   As noted repop front suspension.  Many smaller details like exhaust clamps, non ford idler arm, zirk fittings, some finishes.  Also not knowing the vin hard to tell if some items are correct or incorrect for the production timeframe.
This shelby has early production and mid to late production features.
Early production:
wiper fluid bag
Rear valence half round cutouts with trim bezel
tailight bezels with studs

early mid to late production
full fiberglass hood (vs steel frame and fiberglass)
full fiberglass trunk (vs steel frame and fiberglass)
raised tailight panel

Other
Koni Shocks vs orig adjustable Gabriel shocks
Magstars should have medium grey finish in inserts vs black
Interior Pic Steeing wheel looks high, tilt column?

this post should move to 1968 Shelby GT 350/500

Well now in repairing the 67 GT500 they could put the correct rear valance panel on the car.
It also looks to have the flat tail light panel and the tailight bezel with the studs which may not be correct.
The car is number #3204 and in the undercarriage pics I can see later half of 67 type fuel line.

On interior pic of Shelby gauge pod the oil press is on the right.  I have always seen the oil pressure on the left side.

What is wrong with this picture? ;)

Bumper bracket to frame bolt should be PO, not silver zinc

I have used them for metal and sheet metal parts and all went well. I have not had experience with them on fiberglass parts.  Many of the large automotive restoration shops in CT use them.

Wow great story & nice that you where able to share it with your Dad ,that alone is priceless

Adam,

Yes this was a really fortunate experience to conduct this restoration with my father.  This is the second restoration we have done together.  The first was when I was 13 to 16 when I purchased my 1966 2+2 GT.  On the 66 we did the entire restoration together tear down to the unibody, sheet metal work, body paint, engine build, restore and assemble.  With dad hitting 80 in 2023 and me 56 I am glad my father decided to send the car out to a shop to handle the sheet metal, body and paint and assembly, as it would have never come together at this stage of our lives if we attempted to take all this on.  With me having the needed computer skills to research, track the project parts and costs and Dad and I restoring components this all came together.   The shop owner was great too as he was receptive to me doing the research needed and procure the parts to restore this Shelby as we did.  You are correct it was "priceless" to spend this time with my father and sharing our common interest.  On our first drive it was so great to sit shotgun and see Dad enjoy getting on it and going through the gears!

You did an awesome job Carl!!  The car looks and sounds amazing!!  8)

Thanks George! And thank you for the assistance along the way!

A few more details to work out, hood seal, decals, rims....etc...

These just arrived for the Avons.  I took a rubbing off a vintage goodyear polyglass that had the 3/4" letters and sent scanned image to tirestickers.com

Waldron "mild imposter" hi-flow muffler sounds great!

They also sell an "imposter" model which produces a louder exhaust note

And we have the original owners manual signed by Dean Gregson know as Tasca's performance manager, maybe a salesman at this time?  Dean is known to be involved in developing/building the engine combo that eventually became Fords 428 CJ.

And some more

We were missing the dash pad and I was lucky to find an entire dashboard with an original dashpad intact on ebay.  The unit was stored in a garage for 30+ yrs!  ...best way to store a dashpad!
This original dashpad was dyed black.  Original door panels were repaired by Gene and Alan Painter.
All front and rear seat upholstery is original except for 2 side seat bolster sections replaced on drivers seat.

The 5 original Magstars were restored by Paradise Wheel back in 1990.   They came out great, but upon opening the box this past summer I saw that the inserts were black as in pics.  Spring project is to repaint inserts gray.  Also plan on smoothing sidewalls on Avons CR6ZZ 225/60R15 and applying Goodyear raised white letters to sidewalls.
