There have been many cases where dealers and their sales people were very hard on these cars. Blown engines,  clutches , transmissions  The tails and side covers were very fragile  compared to iron versions.  Ive had customers that broke out side covers and tail shafts just by power shifting.  Try to find a 4 speed Hertz 66 that #1  has the original transmission #2  has one that hasn't been welded . We've probably been involved in the restoration of  close to 100  of these all aluminum transmissions and Im guessing Ive weld repaired over 30%.  Its always a treat to get one that the alloy case and tail or in good shape.  The one trans that was a head scratcher was the one that was in 6S001.  The case and tail were near perfect castings  but the inside was just trashed.  we had to replace virtually all the parts in side.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: t10 gear ratios
February 25, 2018, 02:06:14 PM
Good info Dave.
Sebring 2.36 ratio equals GT350  T10M Alloy Box
Normal  2.36 ratio is for Cobra  T10L Alloy Box
Other is standard Mustang cast iron T10 - I have seen this ratio and T10M  ratio in cast iron boxes

start to make sure its a 9 inch.  easiest way to tell in the car is whether you can get a deep well socket on the bottom two bolts.  If you can its an 8 inch .
2nd is whether it has a plug in the side of the casting, since the axle tube itself has a plug. it will not be drilled and tapped for a plug. 3rd  If you can read the date code on the case it should jive with the rest of your parts as well as the bearing retainer which should be able to use the bolt on steel rebound plate.
as for the driveshaft pinion yoke.  thats another issue and with out a picture its hard for me to explain

Appeals / Re: upper control arm restoration
February 25, 2018, 09:47:00 AM
First make sure you have virtually pit free arms. 2nd make sure they aren't all gouged up from pickle fork removal .  3rd  make sure they aren't cracked .  I prefer to have arms that still have original riveted ball joints.  makes for a much better job - If they uses a torch or a air zip gun to take out the rivets,  you will always be able to tell.   If someone wants me to get rust pitted arms I usually tell them not to send them without them get them glass beaded to check out the pitting.  It gets to a point to get the pits out its not worth the time and effort when I can get rust free cores.  By the time you grind out all the pits you lose the original metal stamping and  strength and the labor will add up to more than buying better cores

This is a starter for small flywheel   First $275  plus the ride  paypal friends and family preferred but  will also take mc/visa  or check   920 434 3645

it wasnt an option  . it was available over the counter by Ford.    Did they cut up the hoods ram air chamber to get the air cleaner to fit?

Hi there, my name is Steven Thompson and I'm new to this forum, I'm the owner of a 66 A code Hertz resto-mod recreation.

I'm inquiring on behalf of my good friend who is recently the new owner of SFM 5 S 543 and has been "to bush" to find out more history about it, which is driving me crazy!..

Does any one have any old photos or info on this shelby.

We have copies of its original order invoices from Shelby America INC to Hi-Performance Motors and another invoice from Hi-Performance Motors to Blackman Ford in Sebring, Florida. last week or so he received the original window sticker from the privioues owners nephew which he had found which has prompted me to help and find out more about this shelby.

Hope you can post a scan of the window sticker

Cheers, Steven.

I went to the H/M  junkyard.  that what we called it.  was a lcoal guy that must have had an in when they were either selling stuff cheap or tossing it out.  There was a schoolbus there that must have had 1000  Boss 429/ 427SOHC   intake gaskets.  Marine stuff everywhere with HM  logos.  Most of the real desirable stuff was picked over
