Lehigh Valley Region SAAC / Go Karts - Two events
January 10, 2019, 08:14:48 AM
It's Winter, so we move the 4-wheeled antics indoors!

First, on Sunday, Feb 24, our annual Club Challenge and "Get Chris" event at S&S speedways. The Garden State Mustang Club has asked for a re-match, so we'll square off again in a "Saturday Night Shoot-out" style event. Lots of practice, four qualifying heats, a feature, and fun. Looking for racers to save the club pride, need 10-12 drivers. Got a few on the list already, please respond to me directly. $30 per driver

Second, Sometime in March, at Lehigh Valley Grand Prix in Allentown PA, PA Region of Team Shelby is having a get-together at this great place to see who can lap the fastest. We'll get our own run groups, and a private room to gather in. Lehigh Valley SAAC Members have been invited to join in the fun. Again, please contact me.

1965 GT350/R-Model / Someone using the 5S306 number
December 30, 2018, 11:50:56 AM
On a Facebook page, I saw and participated in a thread about someone selling a very bad clone, and had a Shelby tag with 5S306.

The car was originally a Detroit 6-cyl, and had so much wrong, it was actually hilarious. Yet the story was the seller was swearing the car was authentic! Many on the thread blew the car apart, and I also contributed, but kept the good secrets off the thread. The person looking to buy saw the truth, and did not buy as a Shelby, but may go back and offer badly modified Mustang money.

I cannot currently find the post, it may have been taken off, but wanted to put out the word about someone using the number.

Just an FYI.

Join Team Shelby Northeast for one if their last events of the year...

HOT CAKES AND HORSEPOWER!!!

Where: Shady Maple Buffet (The largest buffet in the USA), 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl, PA 17519

When: Saturday, November 10th at 8:00am

Cost: $12.50 + tax/person

Join us for breakfast at the largest buffet in the USA. Located in the Lancaster PA area, and featuring home made Pennsylvania Dutch cooking, Shady Maple must be experienced to be believed. Everything is made fresh daily and prepared on-site. From their still warm doughnuts, omelettes to order, and custom made pancake grill (hint: try pumpkin pancakes with pecans and chocolate chips, then drizzle them with cinnamon maple syrup), there is no way you won't find something you'll like, and you certainly won't leave hungry.

When you arrive, park all the way to the lot on the left, across from the banquet hall entrance (see map in the post). When you pay and enter the buffet area, tell the hostess you are with Team Shelby so she will seat you with our group.

Please post below if you will be attending so Shady Maple can get a headcount and ensure there is enough room for our group.

See you there, and if I was you, I'd stop eating at least 3 days prior to our breakfast.

It's Monday morning, I'm tired, but a happy tired. Piles of boxes in my house to go through!

BUT!!! Looking backwards, it was another GREAT weekend, the 9th Annual. The hotel this year was brand new, In Center Valley, right next to the Car Show location at Penn State LV Campus. Fantastic hotel, great food, room for trailers, perfect hosts. The tour was another new one with special stops at a baseball stadium, Eastwood Products for lunch, a Hillclimb in Reading, and a spirited last leg back. 89 miles of fun.

Saturday night at the NB Center was fantastic again! Top notch food and facility, and this year we enjoyed the Movie "The Gumball Rally" outdoor drive-in style.

Sunday's Car show was nothing short of unbelievable! All quality cars of every sort of High-Performance Ford, All years of Shelbys, New & Old Mustangs, Replicas, more. The weather was sunny, and not a frown to be found. We'll be making a donation to Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia for this year's Charity.

Just a great weekeknd, and if you were not with us, you missed a great weekend with a fun bunch of people.

Pictures will be posted, and on the Region's Facebook page are posted pictures, videos, and feedback. Take a look!

We've been invited to attend a game as a group by the Iron Pigs! I'm waiting for an e-mail with the details, but sounds like a fun club outing! We'd even get special recognition. No cars needed, just baseball fans.

The Iron Pigs are the AAA farm team of the Phillies.

More details to come, and the e-mail will be sent to all current members.

Bruce Larson, who owned and drove one of the Dragonsnake Cobras, along with being a pioneer in the early days of Funny Cars with his USA-1 Floppers, has an amazing barn filled with his old race cars and memorabilia from his era of drag racing. There is a special section just for his time with his dragonsnake. Many years ago, the second and third Regional meets stopped there, and it was an amazingly popular visit.

I have been in touch with Bruce, and he is open to a Shelby event there, though no time yet, as he has yet to finalize his racing schedule for 2018 (yes, he is still racing a nostalgia nitro Funny Car!)

This would be a combined event with Team Shelby, so we can have a large and impressive turn-out of Shelby vehicles from all years.

Nothing confirmed yet, but I wanted to open the idea up, allow you to comment and share your thoughts.
