Just as an alternate suggestion for the Alt gauge fire hazzard, why not indeed by-pass as Bob noted, and replace the gauge with a voltage gauge in matching style? The feed is simple, and lets you know how the battery & voltage are?

My current 331, based on a 68 302 block is a very "Big" motor, roughly 450 HP, has 10.6:1 comp. A regular starter would not spin it, especially hot. Did all the grounds, battery, everything electrical.

Used a mini-starter, did the trick, spins it and starts, no matter the temp. Get the issues straightened out, and use/enjoy the mini-starter

Wanted to Buy / Re: Rear brake shoes needed for 5S003

Thanks Bob. I did that upgrade on my 1969, adding the rear drum assemblies from a 1965 Galaxie. Yes, different material and not segmented, but yes to the sizing and origin of the parts. Forced 15" wheel size. I also had to change the M/C for one with a correct bore to keep the brakes working correctly, but made a big difference in stopping.

As a non-original replacement, aren't those Galaxie/Full size/ Pick-up drum brake assemblies?

It is in the special 1969 Shelby Repair manual that's part of the blue manual set.

I used to have a copy, I can check.

For those who are within driving distance of central Pennsylvania, and missing your convention fix, there is another BIG event  to help your craving. Aside from my SAAC Region's Fall meet listed elsewhere in this forum.

Fords at Carlisle is the biggest Ford themed event east of the Mississippi, and never disappoints. Special displays, acres of cars and parts, it's a mecca.

The Team Shelby event ends at Carlisle, and combines their car show with Carlisle. But the two previous days are going to be great this year. I am helping organize, and can tell you first hand, it will be FUN! Thursday is open track as POCONO Raceway, with special Shelby only run groups. Ferrari will also be there. Thursday night events at Mt. Airy Casino, and Friday is a poker run from the casino to Carlisle, all back roads, all curvy.  Lunch is a very special stop at a Drag Racing museum that is rich in Cobra Dragonsnake history. Friday night events in Carlisle.

So, take a look, have some fun, just enjoy the cars and folks. I'll be on track Thurs with my FFR I bet none of you can keep up.....

Getting some registrations in, and our block of rooms at the hotel is starting to fill. Don't be last minute, rooms in the immediate area are hard to find. Get your room now!

(The hotel is usually sold out the weekend of our show, as is the one down the street)

This place looks interesting.  It's in EBF, but I believe there is lodging within a reasonable distance.  The homepage opening photo looks promising.   8)

Drove the track a year ago. Views are spectacular, but very little infrastructure. No big hotels nearby, but a cool track!

SAAC-45 v2

I wholeheartedly agree about a less prestigious place. Back to us, keep costs in check, less flash, more gas.

With all respect to Randy, want to steer this back to a previous idea...

If you could select a location, but it CANNOT be a top level track (Like indy, Sonoma, Charlotte, etc.), what location would you like to see a convention  have a track day or two at?

Something along the lines of NJMP, Autobahn, etc. Something club oriented. affordable, near support facilities (hotel).

Speak up instead of grumbling, maybe your suggestion will be a possibility?

I am still working very hard to have the North East Regional SAAC meet the end of September. Lots of juggling, re-structuring, changing events to outdoors, and so far still a go.  Come on East and enjoy a smaller and more enjoyable Shelby weekend!

As far as 2021, My thoughts would be either try Indy again, just skip and go to California as seemed to be the plan for 46, or try something new?

Time for an update!!!!

We have been working VERY HARD behind the scenes to keep this event alive, as so many events, shows, etc., have been cancelled this year due to complications and difficulties in complying with the current regulations. We have tried to make as much compliant with current "GREEN" restrictions. Still, the event is three months out, but we are very optimistic, and will work to keep the event going, and may have to change how things run if needed.

We will request everyone to be compliant with any and all restrictions set by the state, and we'll even have complimentary event masks for all paid entrants. We are working with the hotel to make sure we can do those parts with no changes, but will do our best to comply if we have to change.

The tour, Outdoor drive-in movie, and car show are all outdoor events, and fit withing the green guidelines. Penn State will have the building open for bathrooms and use, but a mask will be needed to enter.

Registration is now open on the club website - www. lvpasaac.com and many rooms in our reserved block are still available.

Please watch this space, and let's all hope we have a fun, safe, and successful event!
