VERY IMPORTANT E-Mail sent to all club members:

To all,

I am sending out this note on last year's final e-mail list. While many have renewed, some have not. This is a critical e-mail, so sending it to all. But, there is a current 2020 Member list, and all future e-mails will be using that list. Please renew if you wish to be kept current. I have done all the updates I have, so if you do not get the follow-up e-mail, I have not gotten your 2020 renewal. Don't be left behind, reach out if you are unsure.

All of us are currently aware of the health restrictions and current world/social status, I will not repeat it here. Obviously, our club urges all the proper precautions and behaviors. For short term, we'll not have any meetings in an enclosed space, but continue with outdoor activities, where any health risk is minimal. And I think we can all use some distraction and something fun to do.

I will be sending out an e-mail next to all current members with an update on all club activities, and for now, that e-mail will be used as a sort of public exchange for general club information. As well, you can reach out individually  if you want that person. We also have a Facebook page and Web Page, so general club information is available there.

My very best,

I did the big drum brake conversion on my 69 428 SCJ Mach 1. Also used early Galaxie stuff, but found F-100 & F150 parts were a direct change. The backing plate and basics came from the early Ford.

On my FFR Cobra track car, I use the 1994-95 Mustang rear calipers & rotor. There are kits to adapt to the 9" Ford housing. Parking brake works great on the Ford caliper, and pad change is quick with the proper rotating tool. Since it is predominately a track car, I get the hi-perf pads, and can mechanically bias the brakes for more stopping bite by choosing pad material.

Yes, this Shelby will only be a street car, but alternate ideas and information is always helpful

CSX 2000 Series / Different shape trunk lids?
March 06, 2020, 11:03:05 PM
Are there any pictures of any Aces or early cars with flat trunk lids? (No "Hump" for the light).

I am working on a custom project on my FFR, and before I start cutting, would want to see a picture of a flat trunk lid, if anything exists.

I know there is a company that makes a conversion for the 9" rear, just don't know who off-the-cuff.

Remember - you will need a different master cylinder and remove the prop valve for the brakes to work correctly. The stock system sends the bulk of the brake fluid to the front. 4 wheel disc will need roughly equal to all corners.

14"? Shouldn't they be 15"

I know of no kit that will fit a 14", there are kits for 15". Many use either the 1994 Mustang GT rear calipers with parking brake, or a GM Vette rear caliper. Not sure on the rotor. Rear brake lines will need to be changed, and other work done. Probably a bigger job than you are thinking.

You will have to change the master cylinder and remove the prop valve in order to get the correct fluid flow to the back, or the effort is wasted.

Do alot of research. Don't just ask.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Dumb Question ?

68 used the Dynamite sticjs (From JC Whitney)
69-70 used the Cougar rear harness and sequential unit, hence the special steering column adapter harness

67's just light, but look very cool if converted.

We all know the Mustang is in mid-April, and the GT-350 just passed us last month.

Is there an acknowledged date for the Cobra?

Can anyone help with where to buy the larger cables?
Thanks

At the time, I had access to welding cable and terminal ends, so I made my own. Even hot-solder dipped so no corrosion!

Update?

Also +1 on the gear unit.

While I have a big HP 331 in my Cobra, a stock style starter would simply not start the car, especially when hot. Gear unit in, spins every time.

Since this is a non-visible item, do the swap for better reliability and driving pleasure.

AS WELL.....

Think very seriously about your battery cables and the "Grounding Triangle". If you are using the concours tiny cables, they will also hinder starting. They are way too small for a hot big block. On my 69 428 SCJ, I used larger welding cable (1/0), and simply gave up on looking stock. But, it spun the motor every time. Got red heat shrink to mark it.

Also make sure there is a proper and heavy ground from the engine block to the frame. That is crucial. So many take off the flimsy braided cable at the back of the motor. Otherwise, you'll never have a happy charging system
