Something either shorted or went way over current so that the switch contacts burned.

Check everything going to the back of the car and in the trunk, including the sequential unit

Now you are seeing some of the factors in planning a convention.

If SAAC does on it's own, they look at:
Track rental costs (everything)
Nearby Hotels large enough with banquet facilities
Population of SAAC members in regional area
Have they been in that region recently?
Locations for car shows
Feasability

The last many years, SAAC has partnered with various groups, so they become enslaved to a pre-determined site, dates, room.

Future partners will have a major bearing and impact on convention location.

And, an opinion by myself, will SAAC's board of directors ever want to try again on their own? I know the board wants to use a marquee/famous facility to get exposure, but many of us just flat do not care. A great convention can be put together at a reduced cost by using a non-major facility. Regardless, as you can see from the link, renting a track is a MAJOR cost.

So, find a great area with a killer hotel, and only rent the track for a day or two. Make the hotel the focal point. Do other things on other days?

Just some food for thought...

I would give up name tracks to have more track time and reduced cost of track time.  The Shelbys, their owners and the track time is why I go. Not to see the SVRA vintage cars.

Best post on this thread.

I vote for the Autobahn club in Chicago. Just Shelby Clubs.

But,

Since all GT-500's started life as "S" code cars, who put in the 428PI motors? Special Production order, like the COPO Chevy's and Hurst Olds? Not publicly available, but special build runs?

Seeing all the hype about the car going on the block at Mecum in 2020, very cool.

My knowledge is that:
2 Cars used in making the movie, a 289 and a 390
Once supposedly crushed, too badly damaged, one disappeared. Many rumors.

Now, we have this car from Mexico with it's documentation, all good. What about the car in NJ, supposedly also the real deal?

I'm just curious on what is the facts on the cars surfacing. Which car is which engine, are both the movie cars, what are the real facts?

Searching on the internet has many stories, many affirmations, more. Just looking to get everything straight.

Read the book and planning on seeing the movie.

But, wanting to know how close was the movie to the book? Not wanting to see another "DaVinci Code" where the movie was quite different

While a quick posting on FB when I first heard is something, It's a thread like this that really tells the story of Tony

Like so many others here, I met Tony way back in the 1980's when working on my 68. He was early in the parts game, stuck it out through the lean times, always a sponsor for my SAAC region's Fall event, and more. Anyone in the Shelby community knows Tony. His knowledge, helpfulness, a big hole will be left.

He even helped me on my FFR Cobra, as I wanted to add side scoops for rear brake cooling, and talking with him a few years ago  he had a great solution. Since he was molding Shelby Mustang Scoops, and had rejects, he sold me a pair L&R 69 pair of reject scoops very affordably. We talked about which pair would have the best look, and he delivered quick. So, loke so many of us, his parts are part of my car.

I hope his service and knowlege has been a mark yo live up to, and an inspiration for others.

Not to be a wet blanket Biggie, but NO to Palmer. Small, very small pits, all hills with granite rocks instead of guardrail. I was there once, will never go back.
