Up For Auction / Anyone going to Mecum in Arizona?
March 12, 2019, 11:36:18 PM
Anyone going to this weekends Mecum auction in Arizona this weekend?

There are two cars there I sure would like to get additional information on.  The descriptions and pictures on the Mecum site are pretty bad so I was hoping for a little more first hand info on the cars.  They are:

66 GT 350 6s727  https://www.mecum.com/lots/AZ0319-373567/1966-shelby-gt350h-fastback/
65 Vintage racer  https://www.mecum.com/lots/AZ0319-366607/1965-ford-mustang-fastback/

Any additional information on these two cars would be appreciated.

Yeah me too.  There are three cars I would like to have someone have a look at for me.  The pictures online are just so bad you can't really figure out any details.
The other thing I wonder about the Mecum auction is that all three cars, which I am interested in, all have reserves.  That really makes me wonder, are the reserve prices high or are the reserve prices fair?  I guess should just get a flight ticket and go have a look.

My car has a double stamp, (same VIN stamped twice, just offset a little bit) does that count?

It's awesome that we have another set of registries coming out.

I think that is why it is only at $5000 currently with 6 days to go......bottom line, it is no Shelby. It certainly caught my eye this morning. My prediction, under $40,000 at the gavel.
I might buy this for sub $40k.  I've been looking for a dedicated vintage track car for a long while now.

Crap, after the last set of registries I didn't think we would see another set of registries for at least 20 years if ever.  Now we have a new round of registries.  That's awesome.  Way to go SAAC.👍

Wow, I'd be super interested in the Blue 68 GT350 if you decide to part with it.

I'm excited to see it regardless.  And there is no such thing as toxic masculinity.  I reject such notions out of hand.  I refuse to live in such a world and substitute said world with my own.  Movies pay for social justice agendas.  It killed Star Wars in the last couple of films.  I'll use my manosphere filter to weed out the social justice crap in the Shelby film and just enjoy it for what it is.  Hopefully...
Well said brother......well said.

Interesting story- I have owned a couple of original patina cars and currently own I think the oldest Shelby to come back alive... Sleeping Beauty.  The thing that we are faced to make a decision on is what do you do with it?  My 1963 Split window is/was one of the most original in the world according to the experts. I did not want to drive - show a car that had 45 years of dirt on it  :-[ To me that is the ultimate sin sorta like showing off your super model wife that hadn't had a shower in 45 years, gross... My 67 500 has been off the road since 1971 so it has had a lot of patina to endure. Both were brought back with as much shine as possible, but to make them look as they were back in the day that's how I feel they should be represented.
I know a guy who has a brand new 63 SWC. The most original. Never been titled. Came from his dad's dealership. Silver/ blue interior 300HP auto car. Do you know of this car? Terry Mcailis(SP?) of Pro Team has tried to buy this car over the years.  Gary
That's amazing.  An untitled 63 SWC would sell for a metric ton of cash if the owner ever decided to part with it.  By the way, a "metric ton" of cash is approximately 2.8 times more than a "shit ton" of cash so this car would sell for allot of money if it were ever offered.  :D

I hope I can make it.  It's only 10 hours of travel time with 1 flight connection through Toronto or Minneapolis.  I could save $50 bucks and string it out to a 13 or 14 hours and 2 connections but heck, I'd probably splurge and keep it to two airports and a minuscule 10 hours  ;D
