That's a beautiful car, as shown. I'd love to own it, but it's way out of my price range. I would expect that a potential buyer, who had the wherewithal to buy it, would take the advice, often offered on this forum, to pay for a pre-sale inspection to make sure their money is properly spent.

This thread shows that the SAAC Forum and Club members, judges, and restorers, are extremely generous with supporting regular members and passersby. Where else could the seller of a $575,000 car come to ask for advice, that would be known by an extremely small percentage of people. I wish that I could find forums of doctors, lawyers, and financial advisors that were as generous with their knowledge.

Best wishes to both buyer and seller. I hope this car can serve as a benchmark for others in the perpetual pursuit of the perfected pony. Alliteration intended.

I, from 1st hand experience, support Bob's advice. After waiting for about 6 weeks for an earlier SAAC Annual, or Registry, I contacted Jay to let him know I didn't get it. He sent the Annual or the Registry and included a note addressing the situation, and I expect you will receive the same level of service. Jay does a great job supporting this club.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: 1970 Shelby Unique Items
November 13, 2020, 02:32:01 PM
Hi Blackjade,

Welcome to the fold.

I'd recommend that, if you don't already have one, get a copy of the most recent SAAC Registry for these cars. Many of the revisions are mentioned and that should serve a a great starting point. After that, spend a few days reading through the '69/'70 section of this forum to get acquainted with some of our members, then reach out to those members with specific questions. Several are judges and highly regarded authorities with decades of personal and collaborative research. They may have some bandwidth in their schedules to answer a specific question, but be patient. Many of us enthusiasts, who are DIYers may be able to answer some of your questions, based on personal observations.

As Coralsnake alludes, post pictures of what you question. It'll help with clarity and specificity.

Here is a thread that may have some information to help:

Good luck with your research.

Never had a '65 GT350, but when I had a '66, my passenger was pretty good at holding drink. Worked for any size cup, bottle, or can, hot or cold, and never spilled a drip. Should be okay for a '65. Worked in my '68 also, even with the shoulder belts.  ;D

WOW, this is a bummer. Jim and Jesse have been a joy to work with. Jim gets much of the credit for how nicely his business operates and the services he offer, but Jesse is a great wingman. I wish Jim a comfortable, speedy, and full recovery and I give Jesse a great deal of thanks and recognition for what he did for me and his involvement in keeping the business moving forward during this troubling event.

Keep fighting the good fight gentlemen!

Ahhh, my (normally) astute powers of observation failed me.

Yeah, I agree that some parts of the story are a bit tough to believe as true.

Considering the coin he dropped into the car, I'm surprised that he didn't keep performance gauges in their dash locations, even if he kept the camera case finish. I don't get putting a tach where a passenger's calf would be. I also think that Lucas fogs would look better.

More often than not, when a Shelby is the subject of a feature article, it's identified with the last 4 digits of it Shelby VIN. It's a simple identification and is usually the 1st question asked and answered, with pride, among enthusiasts. What's the car's number? Absent of that information, especially if it's in different configuration than a typical example, I don't think there is any insult in considering it a nicely modified Mustang. This one seems to be a nicely modified Mustang, with some skilled workmanship, that looks like a Shelby. The owner should be prideful of that.

Is the '70 Shelby front spoiler a Boss 302 front spoiler?

Mine looks like the one shown in KDunne's post. The point on mine has a slightly smaller radius, but is not a sharp point. I'm not the original owner, yet I believe the stud in my car is original.

Wanted to Buy / Re: 1968 Shelby steering box parts needed
September 20, 2020, 07:01:34 PM
I second Bob's recommendation, as if he needs me to second his recommendation.  ::)

I have a '68 GT500. The steering was horrible. Jim C, of Shelby Parts & Restorations, rebuilt my steering box, hydraulic ram, and steering valve. Everything came back looking great, with assembly line finishes, and the car had a like new steering feel. My understanding is that he can restore the steering box internals if they are severely worn.

Just a typo, did not post the first time

"Events are not personalized. He is so completely at one with what happens that what happens has no power over him anymore. Only if you resist what happens are you at the mercy of what happens, and the world will determine your happiness and unhappiness."

Pure Zen

Is that so?

I purchased all my wire harnesses and sequential "dynamite sticks" for my GT500 convertible from Pete (CoralSnake). His prices were great and his service, pre and post sale, was phenomenal!

Steve

Yes, it is so, otherwise I wouldn't have written it.

And, you're welcome.

Why did you twice post your challenge to my singing the praises for CoralSnake? One "Is that so" would have been enough. Do you doubt my judgement, Peter's capabilities, or both?
