Auto insurance for daily drivers is very expensive as well. 1 in 4 drivers here are uninsured.  Many have never had a driver license according to local police blotters.  The car gets impounded and they receive a NTA (notice to appear).

Vic Yarberry makes super high quality replacement sequencing systems for shelbys.  I've had one for 5 years and it works great.  He might be able to help as well.

I didn't have a noticeable increase in premiums with heacock/American modern after I moved from Pennsylvania to Florida.  I live in a hurricane zone but never had a claim in 14 years

Awesome view.  it's got to be a blast to drive with the tasteful mods you made. I put 16k miles on my convertible in 14 years of ownership.

I didn't see that.  I guess Ford distributors are too "advanced" for them.

I found this video very helpful. It's a bit long, however.

The last set of Marti plug wires I bought had high resistance on the ohm meter.  Taylor spiro pro wires are better performance.

Concours Talk / Re: 69 GT500 console gauges

I'm not sure if the branda reproduction gauges are wired and grounded the same as the original faria gauges and gauge cups.  From memory, the original oil gauge gets power from the green/black wire directly connected to a post on the fuse panel on the firewall. Are you getting 12v at the gauge at the green/black wire for the oil gauge?

What worked for me with my .020 overbored 351W to reduce my coolant temperatures in traffic was the following:

1. Installed a 24 inch aluminum radiator with two 1.25 inch tubes.
2. Installed a 428cj fan, shroud, and viscuos clutch.
3. Run a vacuum advance on full manifold vacuum so I have 20 degrees of advance at idle.

I believe item 2. Made the biggest improvement.

Excellent video on the subject.

Maybe.

Early cars, like mine completed in December, 1968, did not come with a seat belt warning light.  My car also does not have deluxe seat belts, however.  They have black surrounds instead of chrome.  The early cars also came with light teak woodgrain instead of the darker walnut.

I have Heacock Classic, which is underwritten by American Modern Insurance Group.  Never had a claim, but no significant price increases either.  I also have my 2016 Mustang GT insured on the same policy for $250/year.

Yet the 2024 Mustang GT with dual throttle body intakes is rated at 480 HP, and is one badass muscle car.

January 09, 2023, 05:36:04 PM
I called the shop in Hanover, PA that rebuilt my FMX back in 2013.  He said it was the governor that is sticking.  I need to remove the governor and clean it out.  He thinks there is a removable governor inspection plate on the tailshaft housing to allow me to do this myself.  If not, then I have to take it to a tranny shop to remove the tailshaft housing to clean out the governor.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / FMX Issue

In the past 6 months or so, my FMX doesn't want to downshift into first gear when engine/trans is cold.  I find the car starts out in 2nd or 3rd gear at stop signs when cold.  Anyone know what I can do to fix this?  Fluid and filter change?  Thanks.
