Just an F.Y.I. If anyone is thinking about ordering a set of wheels from Craig, don't think about it too long. I had been trying to decide between buying the repops and getting mine redone. A couple of years ago the pops were I believe $500 or $550 and restore was $400. This past May I contacted him for an update and now $600 and $450 and like a dummy I hesitated. The other day I figured let's spend some leftover Christmas cash and now $750 and $500. and he doesn't know how long he can hold that price. Needless to say my order went in while I was on the phone with him. A number of factors are affecting this but 1 thing for certain, they aren't going to come down so............

I've been waiting for the prices to drop on Craig's 69 shelby wheels.  I'm still running around spinning the tires every chance I get on the original, glued, non-riveted rims.  They are a bit pitted and rusty in areas, but that patina helps squelch the critics at local cruises that say my car must be a clone, in spite of the Marti report being displayed.   ;)

Wanted to Buy / Re: 69 convertible top moldings

Are the curved convertible hockey sticks supposed to be chrome?  Mine are lightly pitted and I wanted to get them refinished.  Would re-chroming be the correct way to restore them?  Thanks.

I expect to lose money on my 69 Shelby convertible when I sell it in 15 years or so.  By then, there will be far fewer people still alive, and healthy enough,  that will appreciate these cars enough to pony up significant money for one.  Personally, I won't mind if I sell my Shelby for less than I paid for it because I will have enjoyed it for 25+ years.

I would highly recommend Roger Williams.  They built my engine and did a great job.

Are your neighbors going to rebuild? What's the general mood down there?

Yes, it appears that way.  Mostly deserted.

My 69 GT350 Convertible survived a direct hit by hurricane Ian.   We built a new house on a barrier island in SW Florida.  Fortunately it was built to 160mph wind standard.  I evacuated for 10 days, and when I got back no damage or flooding to the shelby or the house.   Houses built in the 1970s lost their roofs across the street from me. Feeling lucky!  My house is just below the blue dot in the photo.

Here's one. I see a lot more fastbacks than convertibles for sale.  This looks like a nicely restored convertible.  1 of 194 produced.

I received a bunch of photos from the seller.  It appears to be a California smog equipped car.  Several additional brackets in the left trunk drop area.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Bolt's Purpose
July 09, 2022, 01:35:07 PM
Does anyone know what this bolt with the star washer on the cowl is holding up?  See the blue arrow in the photo.  I want to remove and clean the bolt, but I don't know what it is holding up.

Thanks.
